I would encourage you to find a project car for the side and keep your MS6. From a financial standpoint you definitely don't want to be paying out $600 a month for the rest of your life. If you start that trend/habit now, it'll never go away. The benefit to the MS6's uniqueness is that it hasn't and won't be replaced by a newer model of Speed6. The car maintains its image and isn't being dated by new Mazdas because of its uniqueness as well.
I have a very lax attitude regarding bending and breaking rods. All platforms have their own longevity, but in the end they are always finite. Nothing lasts forever. If you break something, figure out why and fix it. If you're worried about breaking something, trade your car in for a bicycle or public transportation.
