What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

I know its not good for the tires but i only have the stock rims.. so i have to switch the tires off and on the same rim ive only done this once.. but so you guys think ill be ok doing this one more time back to winter tires?? by that time ill have my summer rims and tires and the whole winter setup on the stockers

its not so much that its bad for the tires... its the time, effort, and inconvience of needed to unmount, mount balance and install twice per year espically with low profile tires...

on a side note, i'm counting down the minutes left of work to go home and install my intake :)

difficulty of install? i know i'm going to want to install mine as soon as i get off work tonight but the temps will be hovering around the 0 mark and the closest thing i have to a shop tonight is the diy car wash down the street

relatively easy actually. Once the bumper is off, it is as simple as visually figuring out placement, removing stock crap, and elbow grease. id recommend cleaning the MAF while its off too. the difficult part to remove he is talking about is the intake resonator under the air box i believe... once the bumper is off, all the bolts are relatively easy to get to tho.

Im ordering LED's for the car right now and i have a question for those of you who have replaced the liscense plate light. im looking at 2 right now one has a heat shield and is 24mm. long which i think will fit and one has the heat shield and a cover to protect from water damamge and that is 27mm. long.. im not sure how much space we have in there but can anyone help me out with which one to order. thanks.

no idea if 24mm or 27mm is too long, the LEDs i got are stubby little things no larger than the stock incandescents, and as for weather covers, kind of a waste... since the license plate bulbs have plastic covers already. id just pop open the cover, take a bulb out, measure it, then you'll know the size to aim for cause those bulbs have mebe a 1/4 - 1/8th inch of space to the bottom of the plastic cover...

Gave her a quick wash and reinstalled the billet aluminum strut top covers. Looks pretty nice with the mazdaspeed logo laser etched on them.

Mark, are they stock shocks?

tokiko blues for the regular mazda 6.. with tein H-techs for the regular V6-6 as well.. its the perfect height.. and smooth ass ride.. but, the rear shocks were a total nightmare..

oh just changed mah oil and found out i have a very slight leak in one of the rear axle seals.
not enough to drip, but its damp/wet looking. UGH!

Any of you guys know any special maint needed at 22K miles? Im having my oil changed and my manual is nowhere to be found /:.

nah just check all fluids, brakes, lines as usual...

30k is the big one to change all filters, check belts, suspension, all hinge joints, as well as the usual, fluid changes and things mentioned above.

Anyone know the torque spec on aluminum wheels?? Putting my RX8 wheels on Saturday and not sure exactly the spec is. Everywhere i read its different, i thought it was 100ft.lbs?

What do you check on suspension? I never had my services. The car has a pop when I back up in reverse.

the three bolts that hold the air box in the bumper are the devil!

BUT it sounds awsome!

HA! Told you....did you use the words "****, s***, damn it" as much as I did?(cabpatch)

and on a side note, I just bought some lowering springs from Marksp6! :D

Which ones did you buy? Please tell me they're designed for this car...

theyre the tein H-tech set I was running.. ive switched from the wagon springs to regular 6/V6 springs.. cuz i dont have as much rear end weight and no 3" exhaust anymore.. the rides sweet.. just alot of work to do the rear shocks..

Thats why im going to wait until the install party we're going to have up here in Washington! :D

the shocks suck, big time!! but, rear springs are actually pretty easy.. the rears are multilink.. so you can change the springs without changing the shocks.. you just need some jack stands and a good jack.. the fronts are called mcphereson? and with that set-up you might as well change the shocks when changing the springs, cuz its the same amount of work.. your and my,old Pro5's were mcphereson on all fours... i did those once too.. and if youre not sure? get someone to help, and of course the install party is the perfect way!! (lick)

springs at most should take you under 3 hours to do all 4, with some knowledge on what the heck your doing.. if your a pro less then that. if you drinking beer while doing it well then you wont know what time it is anyway so who cares. a lift helps alot but is not needed, a spring compressor is though
