Lip install

Just ordered the GV replica lip from nextmod. I've heard some people just used some double sided tape. I also read that one guy used self-driving screws. Just want to know the best way to mount it without having to pay a body shop to do it. thanks

You don't want it to be toooo attached on there, because if it catches on something, which is likely to happen sooner or later, it can rip your whole bumper off. This will cost you 10x more money than just a damaged lip =)

^ Good point ^ Thanks guys, well I already have double sided tape so I guess I'm good to go. I know nextmod had some problems in the past with horrible lips being made, from what I understand that's no longer the case, keeping my fingers crossed that fitment will be good.

Like me know how the lip fits as I am looking at purchasing a lip from him through ebay pretty soon. Thanks.

You can have them paint it for like an extra 100 bucks. From what I've seen from other posts, they do a decent job of color matching.

Well it just came in last night. At first I was very pleased with it. At closer inspection however, I noticed some problems with the paint. There is a noticeable chip on the left side, with some cracks. Kind of lame considering I paid 100 bucks for the paint. Nothing some touch up paint can't fix though. I will say that they did a great job color matching. Looks identical to the factory Cosmic Blue.

I only did a test fit so far, and I'll say that the fitment seems OK. If you're at least 5 feet away it looks great. Once you get closer though, especially around the lower grill(honeycomb part) you can see some gaps, hopefully when I put it on with LOTS of double sided tape that'll take care of it. I'll make sure to post some pics whenever I actually get it on there.

Maybe you'll have better luck but mine has TONS of chips from rocks. Have to paint it every summer(this will be the 3rd time) mine isn't perfect either but like you said it's only noticable up close. can't wait to see picks

Holy Crap! Every summer? Don't get me wrong, the bottom of my front bumper has it's dings and crap, but thats over the course of 2+ years. How much does a local shop charge you?

As of last night, it's on and seems sturdy. One gap in particular really bothers me, but whatever. I was going to wait to post pics until my summer wheel/tire set-up is on, but I'll just take some pics tonight and post em

Ah, I see in your avatar your car is black. I guess finding a black to match isn't too hard. I dont think a generic spray can from autozone or the like would match to cosmic blue very well.

My wife took our camera to work, garrrr. Trying to figure out how to send cell pics to my e-mail, will post if possible.

crappy cell phone pics, they don't show some of the imperfections, but you get the idea. After some readjusting and more taping with some heat, it fits alot better. And you can barely see the chip on the right side (1st pic) due to my awesome touch up skills. haha. I'll post better pics when I get my good camera.

Here are some better shots with the lip installed. Through 2 car washes and no problems.

thanks guys, most people can't even tell unless I show them an old picture without the lip on, but it just goes to show you how natural it looks on the car.
