I have a 03 Mazdaspeed protege' and everytime im sitting at idle my car seems fine. Then after a few min it starts to act like its going to die and starts to sputter alot. After a bit and trying to rev it up then its fine.... Ive put new 02 sensor, new plugs and wires in it already. I also have a over boost problem and Ive done a vacuum test and it was good. What else should I do for that? Anymore i can check or do?

Your EGR valve might need cleaned. Here's a how-to http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94788. You can also replace it with the Canadian version which is better.

bad wastegate actuator? try blowing into the vacuum hose that goes to ur wastegate on ur turbo.

idk, that doesnt seem like it would cause a bad idle or overboost
if its stuck open, your idle would be normal because the BPV is supposed to be open at idle
if it was stuck closed...maybe that would cause the bad idle but it def. wouldnt cause the overboost
did you check your wastegate?

I was trying to yesterday and cut my hand open while trying to reach it.lol It must be the wastegate then cause Ive checked everything else.

you dont have to actually reach the wastegate lol just take the vac line to it off the intake manifold and blow into it
if air moves through it or the wg moves its bad

This may or may not help.

I was getting the sputtering issue you have. NOT the over boost.

Took it to the dealer and they recommended changing the wastegate actuator.

However, I can't tell if it will fix the issue because i'm still working on getting my fat hands in there to get the damned bolt off the bracket :/

Ya, Im going to do another boost leak test just to make sure. If it doent work then it must be the wastegate.

So my miss-fire problem is fixed. I replaced the Wastegate and now no more problems.
