Why can't I heel toe

for some reason, I can only do it at the track or under hard breaking cause the brake pedal goes farther back...and I place half my foot on brake pedal and other half blips the gas :P

practice

and I engine break during DD all the time...just blip/down shift. I rarely use brakes on off ramps..just blip down shift.
no stress on drive train...as long as you blip throttle and do it correctly.

wait till I tell you guys about no clutch up shifts :P
nah..just messing..works great on the bike though...

That's what practice is for! lol I do it about 99% of the time, no matter how hard I'm on the brakes.

Well thanks to Toyota, I wonder if car makers will start disabling the accelerator when the brake is pressed in...which would mean no more heel-toeing for you!

I'm so tired of hearing about the Toyota thing. lol

The 370Z will rev match for you on downshifts. It would be lame if they started doing that on everything.

They have lamer things like automated manuals called SMG/PDK/DSG and all that shiftable automatics. Just for different market sectors i suppose. If you know how to do it, you wont be buying it anyways.

you have to admit that a dual clutch transmission will out perform any human. Driven a MKV GTI w/ DSG and the up and down shifts are fast and smooth, but only when your getting on it ... if going slow it shifts slower. But in the end doing all the work is part of the fun.

thats not true, i know guys who can shift faster than those DSGs transmissions

(rofl)

now that's some good s***... I'm adding that to my signature

FYI DSG transmissions can upshift in 8 milliseconds

that's eight one-thousdandths (8/1000) of a second

or 4 in the new Ferrari, but then again i dont wanna spend 300K on a car...

i can only heel toe when im wearing shoes which is a rarity for me, because i usually wear sandals. i use the inside (big toe and ball) of my foot too brake, and the outside (pinky toe) to blip the throttle. i guess thats more toe-toe than heel toe, but my feet are too big, or the pedals are too close to do that.

for the most part i just rev match till i need to hit the brakes and then i just shift to neutral, or sometimes let the syncros work. however i feel that brakes are cheaper than transmissions so i usually just let them do more work...

i am having a very hard time learning how to heel toe..........i either slam on the breaks or get no breaks and all gas.....is the 3 a hard car to do this in??.....i can never seem to get my foot to the gas pedal as it seems that it sits alot lower than the brake pedal.........any suggestions

Try it with these shoes

Heel-toe is unnecesary in DD... You really don't need to rev match WHILE braking during DD you can rev match by blipping the throttle and not braking. You don't have to hell-toe to rev-match. its for braking while rev-matching.

Spirited driving does not equate to DD :)

You guys watch too much Initial D.

Anyway I can break and use the side of my size 12's to blip the throttle. Not possible to really do it any other way.

i also do the toe-toe thing, size 11s here.... i think it's set up pretty well for me, but i seem to be adaptable. practiced a bit the other day, on the ride out to fulshear... and i can still do it, but i need more practice... pfffft.

also all of those 'automatic manual' things are ok, but i prefer to row my own..... i know street V8 cars set up to run hard with automatics will beat a stick all day long.... but the grabby clutch, gear case noises, snicky shifter are just one of the things that give this car personality.

but i'm a raw, rough > luxury, touring anyway.....
