So today I drove my 3 to the store and was listening to my iPod by way of the AUX input and I parked my car took my key out of they ignition went to grab my iPod to pause it and turn it off, and was shocked to still hear my radio playing.
I looked down at my hand at my keys then looked at my drivers door which I had already opened and the radio was still playing... I sat there for a sec trying to figure out what was going on and the radio finally powered down.
My 3 has never acted this way before, the radio has always turned off as soon as I turn the key to the off position.
So... anyone else have/had this problem?

Hey guys, I took a video in case I didn't clarify what was going on.

i watched ur clip and couldnt tell if ur tell it when u took the key out and opened the door if ur dash lights shut off or not. if they are and its just ur radio staying on after the door is open then its gotta be a bad door pin. cause its not telling ur car ur door isnt being open when really it is. the other thing i noticed is u have something plugged into ur cig lighter. this is sorta a long shot but i had a car where if i left my power inverter plugged in after i shut my car off my radio stayed on for awhile after i shut it off. the power inverter was back feeding its stored power back into the car and keeping the radio on till it lost its charge. so i would try that first and like i said its sorta a long shot but like i said it sounds like a bad door trigger to me

You can tell the dash lights go off because the AC light goes off you can see it in the corner when I turn the car off.

I thought about the inverter after the fact and I believe that's the "problem" because it isn't plugged in at the moment and my car is acting normal. Thanks for the help though.

My car did that as well...It did it for around 5 days and then stopped..If you counted the seconds in my car, the radio stays on for exactly 30 seconds after you pull the key out.. Really weird s***... But like I said, it just stopped. I wonder if there was a sequence of buttons that I hit to "turn on" that feature..I dunno

I had a Ford Windstar that used to keep the radio running for 1 minute or until you opened a door after turning off the car. Don't know if this is something that Mazda added or if it's just something funky.

It's not, I have a 2007 Mazda3 that I got when with 6 miles on the dash. It is something that is "wrong" with my car, yesterday after getting out of my night class I walked out to my car and unlocked it using my key fob, my lights flashed and the doors unlocked, I got inside put the key in turned it and NOTHING! My car died. The lights were in the off position and nothing was plugged in my car was in a t-bone accident a few months ago and it was fixed but all of a sudden my car is acting up and seeing as I never had a problem before the accident I'm forced to believe that it has an effect on the problems I'm facing. I'm going get an oil change soon, even though I am not due for one I was told to go see if I have a leak or if I'm running low on oil.

Mine did it for exactly 5 days.

did you mod the stereo at all? if so i'd say it shorted somewhere and bypassed your remote power wire. i accidently did this just by having the power and ground wires contacting on my amp. and it kept the stock stereo head unit on, since the remote was wired to its power source. if its all stock, i'd go running back to mazda

No my radio is all stock, just like the rest of my car.

i believe is the fuse box under the glove box.....take it to the dealer.

If it happens again I'll go in, thanks for the help guys.
