Any photographers in here?

Just a test shot.

1 piece of advice: Be mindful of what you put at the edge of your frame... clouds and sky and water and the path in the corners are fine. That tree looks weird because it's stretched out.

Anyone here ever tried this lens?

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8

I think it would be a valid alternative to the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 USM IS since the canon is around $1000 and the Tamron is only about $400. At these focal lengths, IS is not AS important I think.

What do you guys think?

so I gave my macro mode another shot... was hovering at minimum focal distance all the way out to 300mm, heres the best I got. I realize this is far from artistic, so forgive me there...

ridin altspace a lil hard lately aren't we? lol

He got a new camera now..that means he's upped himself to a whole different level of critique - ness. Haha

Anyways..for your macro shot, did you try what we all suggested? It looks more clearer and sharper than the rose. Also..adjust your white balance. It's still a bit too "blue".

The Tamron is still not sharp enough. Save man! Just save for the real deal. Don't give in to temptations!

Awesome shot! Curious, what is that curly shadow just above the ring?
Thanks!
Dust or small hair

I auto leveled the WB and then I ran a warming filter over it, the pic was overexposed before I played with it, but for whatever reason thats the way it seems to have worked best. some of the other shots weren't as exposed, but I just didn't like em as well. I did everything I did before, with a lower Fstop, the tripod set up shorter (more stable?) and mirror lockup. so, I believe so, yes.
LOL..i'm the only one that lives in the place :) I can do whatever I want haha.
win! lol

so, now that I've gotten a good result out of that sigma I'm leaning toward at least holding onto it for a better offer ($100 shipped is on the table)... but now I am considering upgrading to a 30D just for a bigger screen. the one on my 20 is too small to be very useful. GAH!

Hold out. The upgrade between the 20D and the 30D isn't too big of a difference. You get a bigger screen, more shooting modes but the sensor is still the same and it's still shooting at 5fps. Plus you need to get better. Push that camera to its limits man!
