Any photographers in here?

Don't worry too much about it. We've ALL rushed a photo that would have otherwise been amazing and ended up less than stellar. Next time you set up, though, you'll remember that picture and you'll make a DIFFERENT mistake. That's how the process goes. I've shot nearly 7000 photos through my DSLR and only NOW do I feel like I'm actually getting the hang of it (still making mistakes though).
yeah, but aside from misfocused.. a LOT of other stuff can be worked out in post. I pretty much screwed myself there. lol

I really appreciate the input guys... hopefully I can put this to direct use on a couple of the others from the set that AREN'T misfocused. lol

Here's a freaky pic I found from January. It was testing the strobe mode on my flash and slow shutter speeds

I wonder what those would look like if you had a separate photo of the background to lay over it so that the dude was the only thing that was blurry, and the background was normal...

freaky pics

but you COULD use it... isn't that the whole point?! I'm not expecting you to film terminator 4 or anything.

I think the video add on for the D300S is quite silly, but as D300's are selling used on Amazon for around $1000-$1200 and a new D300S is $1499... It's worth it to me to buy it new, I have a block about buying camera equipment used without knowing the owner...

LOL..but with video..I WOULD wanna shoot Terminator 5!!! LOL. Actually the cost of getting rigs, and braces and all that extra video gear might be best left to people who have extra cash on the side to burn. Or earning a double income.

I know if I got one, I'd have to buy a rig to hold it steady, a mic, maybe a light and stuff.

I'm saving for the 7D actually...I should have it by late summer. Unless a deal springs up that I can' tpass on.

I caught a deal on craigslist for $1200 for an unopened one, but while I mulled it over, someone else bought it. sucks for me.

I'm actually seriously thinking about selling my XTi body and getting this:

canon-eos-rebel-t2i.jpg

1920x1080p video @ 30fps
720p video @ 60fps
External Mic Jack...

Plus its updated past my camera to the point of its worth it for me to get. I figure I can get $400 for my body, plus another $100 if I sell it with my 18-55mm lens, only making me dish out around $400 for the new full kit with the updated 18-55mm IS lens...

Get a 50d instead!

updated 18-55IS? wait.. you're shooting the non-IS? or there is a revision of the IS version?
I shoot with the non-IS... is that so bad?

You can buy non-IS versions all day for $60. Maybe to someone without a camera or any lenses, it would be worth it though.

nope just makes me feel like crap. I've heard nothing but horrible things about the lens.

It's just crappy because it's all plastic, noisy, slow, and plastic lens mount. It's gotta be stopped down to F8 to actually get very sharp but by then, your shutter speed is so affected that you'd need to crank up ISO or shoot in pure daylight. To be blunt, it's just a very limiting lens.

Flyin' - do it up man. But it depends as well...how big the sensor size is and how many MP it has. The more MP squeezed into a tiny sensor...the worst it is for losing detail...and low light photos. I'd say 8MP woulda been really good for the XTi instead of 10.

I feel educated. That statement is infinitely more useful that the typical "it sucks".

I've been taking OK pictures with it wide open... I mean, I'd much rather have something better (hopefully soon I will), but for now, it works.
