so ive read some things about how to pressure check your intake system. I saw a few different ways. I tried to uses the method of just putting air into the intake system. Didnt seem to get anywhere with that. I kno i have a leak somewhere because my boost gauge keeps hopping all around so I tool my intake all apatr and put it back together and its a lot better now. But i want to make sure i got all the little leaks. If anyone has and good ideas to visably see where the leaks are that would be great. Oh I saw something about seafoam but I have no idea how to use it really. Thanks

about the seafoam, u jus feed it through the brake booster hose. wait 10 min then start her up and go for a drive till the smoke clears.

it loks like a liqid it wont hurt anything? and i thought the brake booster line had a one way valve in it that wont let anything go backwards through it

RE: seafoam- disconnect the hose attached to your pcv and put a small funnel in it and pour it in that way.

Make sure your engine is up to normal operating temp. Disconnect the hose and pour 1/3 of the can in slowly. Goose the throttle with your right hand as its going in. The engine will shut off. Leave it off for 5 mins. Reconnect the pcv hose. Start the car and hold the idle at 2K rpms for a bit and the smoke will start to dissapate. Go for a drive and put the rest of the can in your tank with your next fill up.

no, dont use seafoam, its a waste

here is a thread about how to do it the right way

theres another one on the evo forums too, give me a sec to find it

both are boost leak testers that work very good, or you could buy this from silicon intakes.com, its a boost eak tester already together for you

your method seems right, i posted links about boost leak testers
and to each his own, i just maintain my engine so i dont need other crap to clean it out

I used a home made boost leak tester and that method worked very good for me

You're right to each his own. I am proactive and maintain my engine also. Which is why I have a smooth and steady idle and an EGR which has not been off since Mazda put it on in 80K miles. Seafoam works when used often is all I am saying.

anyone happen to know what size pvc adapter id need for hooking it up to where the maf attaches?

The the thread on evolutionm.net actually points to a thread I posted a how-to for a boost pressure tester in. As a matter of fact, The method I posted in this thread: http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-ho...ps/396610-how-boost-leak-tester-5-02-a-2.html I actually posted here as well. Check the How-To section.

oh woops, forgot to check on these forums for that lol
thanks for posting that though, its a very helpful tool

i had the same EGR valve on the car for 200K with no seafoam and a silky smooth idle :)

the intake piping is 2.75" where the MAF is. if you buy a 2.75" PVC pipe id say you could just use the coupler and clamp it in where the MAF was.

you are correct, but if you have factory vacuum lines still, then it is definitely the place to start, besides a visual inspection
