The windage tray/support plate isn't a must have. you'll just need to modify a little. like getting a sandwich plate for the oil filter to source your oil from and run a new line to the turbo, then drill a hole in the oil pan to add the oil return ect.

When you say running like crap what do you mean?? have you checked the plugs to make sure then havn't fouled, do a complression check? What are your AFRs I see you have a wide band?? what are you tuning with and how much boost are you running?? your problems may be curable with other things rather then an engine swap. think about this. if your issue is a bad tune or ****** up MAF, or boost leak, ect. swapping the motor isn't going to cure a single thing

With that said:
having a spare built motor isn't a bad thing either

Haha just to let you know ive been trying to find my problem for a while now, ive been driving around town with a crappy runing car.Yeah at idle my afr runs between 14.7 and 15.3, im gonna do a compression test next but I dont think im gonna like what I see. I recently found out that we have solid shim on bucket lifters, is it easy to check and adjust them(I know the honda guys have to adjust their lifters every 30 thousand miles or so)? I think it is worth it with these cars to have an extra engine just in case.

Hey guys, my car drives like crap and I feel like the engine is gonna blow some time soon, so would this engine work in the msp

I would like to go forged with this motor while the motor in my car is still running, then I would install this also

would this work?

Ebay one is fine plus you get a 626 intake manifold

Yeah my buddy tells me that the engine on ebay is the fs-ze engine instead, there are a bunch on there for cheap and they are supposedly jdm, but he says they are a higher compression engine but i was willing to change that with a thicker head gasket, but he also says the wiring is different so it might not work so some more info would be greatly appreciated like if the wiring is different then how I would fix it. I just dont want to buy an engine that will end up not working.

Yeah, this has the manifold in the pic but I don't think it comes with it, its okay though cuz i have a ported california 626 manifold sitting in my garage because I havent installed it on my car yet.

The 1 in the picture is likely no FZ-DE the compression on those are 10-7-1 i believe but i just finished my swap no to long ago with a JDM motor all the same. Worked well but if you have the money you can build the MSP before the your old block is toast. GL weather way

Thanks for the info man, ill probably be buying that engine soon then. My situation is that i don't have the time to go forged all at once, if I could get the spare motor and go forged on it over time then just swap the motors when i need to is what i am planning. ill probably put the k1 rods and wiseco pistons in, then ill use arp head studs. I need to start up another college auto class though because they let me use all their tools. Ill eventually upgrade the turbo to but i have a bunch of other stuff i want before then(Rims+tires, coilover, exhaust, and the speed 6 brake upgrade)

your buddy is wrong about the FSZE. also i think 626 engines from this timeframe are a pain to get working since most of the sensors arent compatible. theres a few people who have tried it out, but i would research it before you buy it. i can tell you the mechanical aspects of the engine are the same.

its a good idea to have a spare motor for the MSP for sure, just make sure this is the right one for you.

yeah, that was what my buddy was telling me about, the different wiring. If some one has some info on it please let me know, in the mean time ill try to find some info.

there was a thread in the engine / forced induction tech that was bumped about 2 weeks ago. a certain banned member has info on making it happen as well.

no its this one

and to answer your question yes that engine will work, its the one im doing right now. as long as you have all your old sensors valve cover etc. it will work just swap over everything like you normally would. im debating on whether or not to use the 626 manifold mine came with, gotta do some research on it.
