If You Boosted A N/A Protege, READ THIS

Let us know. I haven't bothered putting anything in the line since I removed the one-way check valve. I prefer to be able to fill my tank properly rather then caring about "possibly" damaging the purge valve.

Okay I think I know what this connector thing is...in post 11 in the photo just above the check valve is a dbl/ended nipple thing that splices one vac hose to another going to the purge solenoid valve. Looks like about $1.45 to me :(

Are you talking about the 19-926 part? It looks like a check valve to me, but not the same as the part we are being told to use (000-88-C67). I don't see what you're talking about above a check valve...?

Can someone with a stock msp please check out this vac hose and confirm what exactly this part is?

You'll have to look under your hood...I meant to say in between the check valve and purge solenoid valve which can't be seen in the photo

Tell me, are both sides of the "dbl/ended nipple thing" the same girth?

Linux, how long have you had this valve installed? I had it installed for two years, I started experiencing minor filling issues I would have to guess some where after a few months, which progressively got worse to the point where I could only put a few cents in at a time. I was driving the car pretty much daily over this period.

While trying to solve the issue, I found the vac hose connected from the larger barb to the purge solenoid had collasped (I was using Vibrant silicone hose). It looked as if it had been slowly sucked together. It was pretty obvious that vacuum was trying to get through, and that the check valve was preventing it. My guess is that this tiny amount of vacuum had built up over time, eventually leaving pressure in the tank (this is my guess as to what occured). Regardless, once I removed the check valve to test my theory, my filling issues were immediately resolved. So something seems odd here, and maybe I'm not 100% correct, but it does seem as if there should be a multi-port check valve on this vac line, and not a one-way. I also found it odd that there were others complaining of the filling issue in this thread.

It wasn't in the wrong way was it? Also, I've had this valve in probably since 2006 without issues.

Absolutely not. In fact it would be pretty hard to install it the wrong way since the small barb goes to the nipple on the IM just behind the TB, while the larger bard goes to the purge solenoid. You wouldn't exactly be able to use the larger diameter hose on the side going the the IM, or vise versa.

Just a update, I installed a new valve from Mazda to replace the one I already had installed. I have filled my tank twice with no problems, before the replacement valve it took 20min to fill up.

im now suffering from the issue... what a load of s***...... i couldnt believe it took me LITTERALLY 20 minutes to fil up.... grrrr... I need to install that one way valve still.. or buy a new one cause i cant find it...

I ordered 0000-088-C67 several weeks ago and finally went to pick it up and they tell me this part is no longer available!!??
