What have you done to your Mazda6 today?

What are you going to upgrade to (planning on) ?

I would LOVE to drop a 1JZ in a lexus sc300. Kid has one around where I live. I can see the birds collapsing as they smell his catless fumes but its still sick. Could do that cheap and "easy." Not to mention it can handle around 750 crank hp. I would even be happy with a new evo X. I see them around every corner but I like them more than the 8/9's.

What mods do you have steve?? .

I'm pretty much set on a 2011 Mustang GT with the new 5.0 in it. I will most likely have to order one with the Brembo package, Premium trim, Comfort package, Security package, HIDs, Track package, and spoiler delete. 6-speed manual of course, either Grabber Blue or black.

First off, steve sux...

Second, definitely go Grabber Blue!

Third, steve sux some more...

And, I'm jealous. Maybe my wife will let me go galloping as well.

(Just kidding steve, and I thought I was going to catch you in posts. I only have 10,9xx to go now)

It's gunna be sad to see you go when you do, You've taught us a lot... do you plan on doing a part out or are you going to sell your car as is? I would be interested in tones if your parts...

Don't worry, I'm not going to bail on everyone, I'll still be around just not as much. And yes, the car will be parted back to stock, and everything will be up for grabs. I don't know exactly when this will happen, but I'm going to give it some time and see how the spring pans out. Not spending any more money on the car is a good thing for numerous reasons.

thats pretty cool, im not into mustangs much but its going to be one badass ride..

u know whats sad, i couldnt even put my car back to stock if i wanted.. i dont want too, but ive gotten to the point where i cant, thats sad.

Here's my post from another forum about my reasoning as well:

I've been a Mustang fan for years, since I was younger and saw the Mach III concept car at the Detroit auto show back in the day. I've wanted one for years, and almost bought a 2008 Bullitt before I got the MS6. They wouldn't honor my A-plan and wanted a $3000 ADM over sticker, so I told them to **** off and walked.

I've driven every iteration of 2005+ Mustang since they've come out, and the 2010, while it has its quirks, is the best all-around one they've made. Now, with the new motor, which is a marvel in itself, it really is the class-leader in the pony car segment. The Challenger, short of an SRT-8 is still a heavy pig with no real chassis refinements, and the Camaro falls short in the interior so badly, and the ergonomics of things just baffle me. I did drive both to make sure that I didn't want one of those instead.

Aside from the SLA (which isn't bad), and the small body quirks of the 2010+, I really like it. The 2011 has Brembos as an option, and most of the 2010 Track Pack has been put in as standard fare, which is a nice thing, and hopefully, if the rumors are true, they'll offer factory Recaros in the GT, then I'm there. It'll need a few suspension parts, and eventually a Watt's link setup to really carve the corners, but the amount of power on tap isn't going to get old at all. If Ford Racing offers a mild blower package for it, then count me in.

I'll keep you guys posted for sure, but definitely don't worry, I won't be gone anytime soon yet. Besides, I've been in the Mazda family now for about 6 years (Sept. 2003-now) so it's not like I haven't developed a lot of relationships and friendships with people around the community.

Oh, and here's my first mod (flush mount rear quarters):

I lied, I still have to spend some money to get that dent removed in the pass. front door. I'll probably wait until the weather warms up to do that.

Yesterday, I reflashed my car with the Hypertech Max Energy Sport programmer. So far, I'm liking the gains. Very noticeable increase in torque and horsepower, and the car pulls all the way to redline now.

I think you're the first guy whos used that, care to share price, vendor, etc. about it?

I'm actually beta testing right now. Once I give my feedback to Hypertech, I'll share some more info. They do have horsepower and torque numbers on their website: http://sport.hypertech.com/Mazda.aspx

Realize that the horsepower gains are at redline. Horsepower and torque are pretty similar to stock until 3000 RPM, and then averages around 20 for both until 5500-5700 RPM where you can tell that they're keeping the throttle plate open to make more gains at high RPM.

I'll be sure to post a full review after I've had more time behind the wheel.

Edit:

Here's the dyno chart: http://sport.hypertech.com/Graphs/62003_2006_2009_Mazdaspeed3_6_2_3L_Turbo.pdf

What was wrong with your clutch? I thought wear and tear stuff were not viable for warranty coverage.

Funny you mention that. I told my buddy about the dealership I go to. And he brought his car down and they looked at his, and he needs a new clutch assembly. They offered to do it, but he is moving to St. Louis and the dealers out there said no it's not covered under warranty. So needless to say he is having it done at mine since the other is giving him the run around..

NUuuu, you NEED something quicker? lol...
i cant afford anything that gets worse mileage or more upkeep... yikes!
5.0 will be sexy tho.

As long as you sell to a mazda appreciator and not some rando, then we will forgive you! lol

Well, considering it gets 25mpg and has more hp stock, and a nicer interior (dare I say that), it's not a bad car. On top of that, less maintenance and worry about parts (like a turbo or rear diff) make it a decent upgrade.

And yes, I hope to sell it to someone who enjoys the car as much as I have, because the MS6 has been a FANTASTIC car in the 2 years I've owned it (2 years on 1/18) and I wouldn't change that for a thing. I've learned a lot, worked on it a lot, and have a lot of memories with the car. I just decided far enough ahead that it's time to shift directions from here on out.

That new stang looks like a beast! Should be a blast. Waiting for the part out sale.....

It'll be good. There's a slim chance that I may sell the car with the parts on it as-is, but that has to be if the conditions are right. I made the mistake of selling my Protege modded and probably lost out on a good bit of money had I just parted it out and sold it as stock.

Mods that will be coming off the car for sale:
-Cobb SRI
-Cobb TIP
-Cobb AP
-SU 2.5" test pipe
-Dashhawk
-MGT Blendmount for DH + extension cable
-Whiteline RSB
-H&R springs
-SU blackout rear reflectors
-RPM LED front corner lenses
-Mazdaspeed oil cap (bling bling!)
-TWM stage 2 STS w/ bushings
-TS/SU bypass valve
-2nd set of MS6 wheels, not sure on tires (depends when this all goes down)
-TT rear diff bushings (brand new)
-TWM shift boot (black/silver) for Stage 2 STS

I think that's about it, but I may have more. I have a full mod list at home that I'll start to put prices together on and go from there.

Yesterday I put a front plate bracket on and applied my Zoom-Zoom and Mazdas247.com stickers. -10 cool points for the front plate + 15 HP for the stickers!

Selling my car is on my mind for this year too. Will most likely end up buying a sr20 240sx or a 1JZ sc300 if I do decide to sell. I would like to do the swap myself but I think I would save a lot more money just buying an already swapped car. Even if the engine has been abused I could buy another and drop it in. The hard part of fitment, ECU / harness , fans , customization, etc. "should" already be done. Frankly its such a good deal to swap engines. I could have an easy / reliable 240sx with 350-400whp for under 15 grand even if I go the expensive route of replacing basically everything (timing belt, tensioner, water / oil pumps, etc.)

But back on mazdas I threw a P2187 after installing my stage 1 93 octane SF map. Will get around to installing the proper TMIC map today or tomorow.

And steve your power conscerns are legit but you still have a good / "easy" 40whp in your car. Downpipe + intercooler . . .
