So, you bought this car because it was "a bargain", but you have to swap out the tranny AND paint it to get what you really want? Doesn't sound very cost effective to me.

And why did you have to wait for your extended warranty to kick in to ask a Mazda dealer about this car? '08 Mazda3 warranty is 36,000 miles or 3 years (I googled). You bought in September 2009 and you state the car has 30,000 miles...so unless this 2008 Mazda3 was placed in service in September 2006 you still had factory warranty when you bought it.
 
Its a Mazda3i Sport. Because i just went out and bought a AEM CAI yesterday my next question is which is better the Vibrant or OBX Racing header??? I have an OBX on my Protege and I like the fact that its not a 4-2-1. From the info that I've gotten a one piece racing header is better for top end. is that right? and will it really matter? which sounds better? and does anybody have the full vibrant exhaust? does anybody have the Weapon R Intake Manifold?

To answer ur questions, I got an extended warranty from Autoplus warranty company. the factory warranty is only up to 36000... why the hell would i only want my car cover for the next 6000 miles??? Plus wouldnt you wanna get an extended warranty on the car knowing that its pervious owner managed to put 30k+ miles on the car in less than 2 years?

so i got additional coverage for 2 years or 24000 miles. however when you purchase an extended warranty the dealer is responsible for the vehicle and anything that may go wrong for the first 90 days. So I had to wait which i did.

P.S. I put it had 30k as a rounded of #... I'm not looking to sell the car so i didnt think you wanted my exact mileage. its at 34002! good enough???

I went in thinking it was a 3i Sport and they said according to the vin its a S! But my car doesnt have any of the features of an S so it throw me off. I figured asking y'all, you might know where I could check to make certain.

Im sure that I have a Mazda 3i sport.... at which point does anyone go beyond that? I wanted to know the specific model out of the 16 there are but it doesnt matter. Do either of you have an opinion on the CAI and the header, cuase the convo has switched gears... would you care to tag along?
 
I think the CAI is a waste of money on a n/a 4-banger that is essentially stock. That 3-5hp will never be noticed.
 
An intake is an intake, they're all an aluminum pipe with a filter on the end and one isn't better than the other, even CAI vs SRI

4-2-1 Header > 4-1 Header, other than that, same goes for headers, doesn't really matter which one if you're buying name brand.

Dude if i had the money to buy a Lambo i promise i would and so would all of us. But we all have mazdas right. So we work on what we got. And if imma just buy a CAI and call it a day it is a waste of time, but the mod bug doesnt usually let you stop there. with a CAI, Intake manifold, Header, Cat back, and a few other things do you think it would make more than 4 hp???? Come on dude. Now your just picking at s***

I am not picking at s*** at all. You asked for an opinion, I gave it to you. I think trying to turn a regular 3 into something that is "fast" with bolt-ons is a waste of money. Now if you were planning on going with a full build I would have a different opinion.

I suppose my point, if you wanted to read between the lines, is it doesn't matter which cai or header you go with as they will all be basically equal on effectiveness, or lack there of for the application.

Thanx for posting! I did google it. I'm sure pound for pound I know just as much if not more about Mazdas than you do. I just thought the simpler route might have been asking the 83000 people who on this all MAZDA forum and have already done some of the research and had there own individual experiences with their cars that they might wanna share their knowledge of the subject. Isnt that what this forum is for???
