Based on the advice here, I bought Mazda Millenia 16" rims and P195/60R16 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 tires. I installed them today and everything worked out great! Now that we are expecting below freezing, it is getting close to needing them.

Here are the pics!

Thanks for the advice!

They are 2001-2002 I think. These are 16", they also came with 17s. I kind of over paid for them, but I wanted something that looked like they belonged.

Your rims look Mazda6 wheels also. Regardless, I think you saved yourself a lot of hassle using stock Mazda rims. From what I've read, people who purchased steelies also had to purchase different lug nuts as the stock lugs are not long enough.

And that's why I got a set of stock 16" Protege5 wheels... now just waiting for studless snows.

I don't know what you paid but I paid $300 Can for used Rx7 rims but the fit is perfect and alloys always look better than steelies imo.

Very nice. I was considering those same rims, someone in Seattle was selling them for $225.

Of course alloys look better than steelies but alloys will slowly corrode due to road salt over time and eventually start to leak air, they're also more expensive to fix if they ever become damaged.

Those Millenia wheels really look the part - for winter at least...Niiiiice!
But I am really liking AZ right now....
I'd have no place to store snow tires for 2 cars!

That is a pretty good deal for $225. I paid $275 for my set. I would have gone the RX-7 route but I really wanted 16s. With the P195/60R16 tire size, I ended up saving a bunch of money on the tires themselves.

Thanks for the comments! It looks like I will have a chance to try them this Thursday. Snow is coming!

I am in a dilemma with my protege5 (trashed 2 wheels on a curb) and may be purchasing those same rims for $200 at a local wrecker. Though, now I'm thinking that I'll buy 14" jy steelies and winter tires and forgo the millenia wheels. I have 16" momo winter wheels on the M5 which I'll transfer to the P5 in the spring and find steelies over the summer to mount the M5 winters on. If I don't buy them anyone interested in them?

Rx-7 wheels are 16"... and they are 16"x8", offset is 50 and they are 5.9 pounds. I wanna buy a set of those for my tracks days next summer. (drive)

The RX wheels are too wide for winter use, they're great for AutoXing though.

Steelies will rust much more faster then alloy will corrode. And and this price why won't go with them... ? (inout)

If you are going to run the Rx 7 or FD rims as they are also know you will need a 3 mm spacer in the front so they do rub the tie rods under full lock or at least have the balance weights that are stuck to the inner barrel of the rim so there is no interfence.
