Location for OEM GPS antenna

:
2007 Mazda5 GT
Anyone know where the OEM GPS antenna for the MZ5 is? Am debating the merits of an interior v. exterior installation of a GPS antenna for a Pioneer AVIC-z110bt.

I had my AVIC D3 GPS antenna installed under the top of the dash dead center. Velcro'd it to a metal post. Worked flawlessly.

Awesome. Domed side facing up or down?

Also, any idea where the VSS and parking brake wires are for NA versions? I've seen quite a bit of conflicting info out there.

dome up. The VSS wire was very easy. The hood of the spedometer cluster literally pulls straight off. I tapped the VSS from there. For the parking brake..well I shorted out that wire for the NAV so it thought it was always on. I will see if I can find the VSS info from an old post.

Thanks very much, stillageek. I look forward to it.

This is from another poster, MazdaDude who helped me out.

You will need to pop the instrument cluster out to get to the connector needed.

Once you get to the connectors, there are two plugs that plug into the instrument cluster. The plug you are needing to connect the VSS wire to is in the RIGHT harness plug, and I believe it is a 24pin plug.

If you look at the back of the plug where the wires go into the plastic connector, counting from the top left, moving right, you will count over to the 5th hole, in my case I had wires in the plug already at the 1,2,3,4, and 6 positions. I pushed the pink wire with the already crimped on molex pin into the 5th hole, and snapped it into place, and then plugged the harness back into the instrument cluster, the other end of the wire was connected to the VSS wire on the back of the stereo.

Again the cluster is very easy too pull off. Simply lower the steering wheel, grab the top of the cluster (edge that is rounded and sticks out toward you) and pull toward the back of the car. Pops right off.

This is fantastic, thank you!

Which harness?

@stillageek: What harness adapter did you use that came with the VSS terminal? Metra or Scosche? Do you have a part number?

I'll be doing this install in a couple of weeks and I'm just now gathering up the pieces.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but it still might be relevant. ;)
