2007 Mazdaspeed6 Metallic Grey
Im getting my 2007 Mazdaspeed6 appraised tomorrow by a dealership. My mods are listed below in my signature. Are there any particular that i should remove before the appraisal?

What do you mean by appraised? As in, appraised to find a value? If they are working under the hood I would attemp to turn it back to stock (stock airbox+et al) and put the stock shifter assembly back on.

Im getting my car appraised by dealer to see its trade in value because im considering a new car. Im not gonna actually trade it in tomorrow no matter what deal they offer me but ive never had a car appraised and was wondering if they are actually gonna look under my hood. I dont think there is any way they would notice the Forge BPV, the short throw, or the exhaust, but the bright blue cobb SRI does stand out. I have the impression that since the car has only 11,000 miles on it the are gooing to just walk around, but not pop the hood. What do you guys think?

the last place i'd go for an appraisal on my car is the dealer....kelly's or edmunds will give you the same info...the dealer id going to low ball you big time!

I have never found a place that will give KBB or Edmunds value for a car. NADA is the closest thing to real-world, and even then it'll be hundreds more than what a dealer will actually give you.

It doesn't matter that the dealer is going to "low-ball" you; they're the ones whose opinions actually matter! You can't sell your car to Kelly or Edmunds!

i guess i should have been clearer, don't trade the car, sell it outright...the dealer's "appraisal" is going to make you laugh! the dealer is going to give you trade in value, not a fiar apprasial of what your car is worth and what they are going to sell it for when you walk out the door with the new car!

I've had two cars appraised before and yes they are likely to check under the hood. Just like when you go look at a used car your gonna buy, you would check, so do they if they are going to make you an offer to potentially buy a car.

I wouldn't appraise the car unless you plan on buying. A lack of motivation on your part to buy a car results in a lack of motivation for them to give you what you want in trade-in. Why even bother appraising then? Just KBB it and seriously expect the "lower" price or negotiate a higher trade when you're ready to buy. Otherwise, total waste of your time..

To answer your original question, yes, any dealer that's worth a sh*t will look under the hood for signs of a collision repair. While they're there, of course they'll take note of anything that looks non-stock.

Prepare to bend over. These cars don't re-sell well. My Kia dealer gave me $15K for my 2006 with 11,000 miles on it, and that's the best offer I'd received for it in about 9 months of shopping around. Of course, they have it listed for $17,499. I know..they need to make money. I say good luck getting someone to pay that for it.

I really liked what I saw when Kia rolled out the Forte Koup concept and I've been following the car ever since. I've been wanting to get a less tempermental car with fewer issues, and lower my payment / insurance as well. Mission accomplished. I'd attach a picture, but my workplace recently blocked photobucket so I'm kinda picture challenged now. So, enjoy the cheesetastic Kia ad campaign. Mine's the blue one. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8NdBE_H-Lw

Just a heads up, banks use NADA for lending purposes, and base their loans around that. Go there for an appraisal, not KBB.

Yeah talk about low ball they offered me $15,500 for a 2007 MS6 with 10,5xx miles on it. I dont know what i was expecting because i have kelly blue booked ms6's before and been shocked by the results. I was looking at buying an 07 Sti with 26,000 miles on it, so they was what i hoping was their motivation the give me more for my car. It was a great deal for the STi (i think anyway) $24,000. It looks like ill be keeping my MS6 for a while. The sti didnt feel that much faster anyway :)

24K for an STI.. unless its barely used which i doubt.. i wouldnt do that.. that things probably been dogged out just like everyother STI our there.. ive seen 04 and 05 STI's going for 14k with HELLA mods when i was car shopping.. its cuz theyre were dogged the Fu*k outtt and would probably only make it another 30k before something blew.

Also keep in mind that, for the same $24k, you could get a brand new 2010 WRX, which looks better, has a much nicer interior, and is as fast as or FASTER THAN the 07' STI.

Not sure if yours is a Sport or GT, but I just put that into NADA, your car comes up anywhere from 15,275-17,625, depending on condition (Sport). They basically gave you the lowest value for it. I'd want $17,000 for a trade in that condition or I'd immediately walk (not being unreasonable, but if it truly is in clean condition, then that's not unfair to get, since they'll sell it for $20k).

Never reveal that you have a trade in when shopping for a new car. Your goal is to get them down to their lowest dollar price. Once all the dealing has been done and they think you are ready to buy or not....then you can introduce your trade in and begin that negotiation. If they know you are trading in, they'll be less likely to come down from their sell price. In short, it gives them more avenues to make a profit if you throw all your cards down at once. Also, it is true about NADA. Thats what banks use, and so should you. One bank told me my car was worth almost $3k less because they didn't factor in my 8,000 miles or sunroof. If I wasnt on NADA at the same time, I could have lost out and not caught their mistake

Very good advice about the negotiation for a sale price. And yes, since I have family in the banking industry, KBB is useless to me.
