the last place i'd go for an appraisal on my car is the dealer....kelly's or edmunds will give you the same info...the dealer id going to low ball you big time!
I have never found a place that will give KBB or Edmunds value for a car. NADA is the closest thing to real-world, and even then it'll be hundreds more than what a dealer will actually give you.
It doesn't matter that the dealer is going to "low-ball" you; they're the ones whose opinions actually matter! You can't sell your car to Kelly or Edmunds!

24K for an STI.. unless its barely used which i doubt.. i wouldnt do that.. that things probably been dogged out just like everyother STI our there.. ive seen 04 and 05 STI's going for 14k with HELLA mods when i was car shopping.. its cuz theyre were dogged the Fu*k outtt and would probably only make it another 30k before something blew.
Yeah talk about low ball they offered me $15,500 for a 2007 MS6 with 10,5xx miles on it. I dont know what i was expecting because i have kelly blue booked ms6's before and been shocked by the results. I was looking at buying an 07 Sti with 26,000 miles on it, so they was what i hoping was their motivation the give me more for my car. It was a great deal for the STi (i think anyway) $24,000. It looks like ill be keeping my MS6 for a while. The sti didnt feel that much faster anyway![]()
Never reveal that you have a trade in when shopping for a new car. Your goal is to get them down to their lowest dollar price. Once all the dealing has been done and they think you are ready to buy or not....then you can introduce your trade in and begin that negotiation. If they know you are trading in, they'll be less likely to come down from their sell price. In short, it gives them more avenues to make a profit if you throw all your cards down at once. Also, it is true about NADA. Thats what banks use, and so should you. One bank told me my car was worth almost $3k less because they didn't factor in my 8,000 miles or sunroof. If I wasnt on NADA at the same time, I could have lost out and not caught their mistake
