Cobb AP Discussion Thread

Still have my AP sitting uninstalled in my car. I have heard stories where people try to reload their saved stock map and still get unusually high knock / etc.

Dunno I guess im paranoid until I can get a custom tune which I don't think will happen till xmas when Ill finally have the time to install a DP.
 
defin get it! i cant say about the cold yet cause i just installed mine a few months ago, but its worth every penny.
 
Hey guys and gals, im in the nashville area, highest alt being 1200ft above sea level. 87,89,91,93 octane w/eth all avail. here on my power mods;

Any rec as to which one of cobbs maps to run or would you suggest one of the maps from mzdspd.com? i downloaded all 8 of cobbs from their site. Steve i know u and blender seem to be pretty good on the maps...what would you all suggest me to start with? thank you

To be honest, I'd probably go with Stage2+MSCAI 93 v102 from www.mzdspd.com. I believe the Mazdaspeed CAI is actually a re-branded AEM CAI.
 
When i spoke with the mazdaspeed rep, he told me that it was. That mazda basic copied the already made aem. thank you for your help blender. What octane fuel would u suggest with that map setup?

Use 93 octane without a doubt. If you run into knock above 1.3 KR, even with your ITV22's, I would either look for 94 octane or back off to a Stage2 91 map with 93 octane.

Just putting an order in for an AP -here's what I got:

97 MS6, in Minnesota
Fujita CAI
PG TIP
Forge BPV
ETS TMIC
SMS Test Pipe
Denso ITV22 (stock gap, .030-.032)
93 Octane (BP gas with ethanol)

I get a lot of KR in all the usual scenarios.

I get a lot of KR in all the usual scenarios.

I've got two maps I'd try:

Stage 2+ TIHFUCAI 93 v1.02 (link)

Stage 2 93 v1.02 TMIC (link)

Unfortunately I can't tell you the differences between the TMIC and non-TMIC maps, but that would be the point of interest to focus on if you feel like messing with ATR.
 
mn3kgtvr4 u have all the same stuff i have practically ...nothing is working for me...do yourself a favor and get a e-tune or real tune done...the tmic map didnt work for me since kr was all over the place...and the map i am using now ( stage 2 93 mscai ) is giving me kr in -5 lbs of boost...which is odd..i get a 5.9 kr when im not putting much load on the car while driving 40 mph in 4th gear and lightly pushing down on the pedal...but when i give it wot its fine...so its weird for me. still waiting on my e-tune as of right now

Gary, I've found that forcing the car to adjust during part throttle knock spikes seems to eliminate them. Also, you may want to try using different gas. I wouldn't tell mn3kgtvr4 to not try these maps, it seems that everyone has a little different response to them. Just looking through this thread, you'll see that a lot of people agree to disagree on map choices.

Very interesting, I'll have to try that. I always let off/on the gas or shift, maybe time to let it learn.
AP comes tomorrow, have a feeling pretty much anything is going to be better than the stock ecu map from what I've read. Thanks for all the input.
