Winter setup... wheel censors?

Well the time has come for me to start seriously considering winter wheel/tire options for my 2008.5 Speed. I've been searching Tire Rack for some good deals, but I'm a little unsure about one thing. My father mentioned to me something about a censor that's on the wheels, but he isn't sure if it's necessary for winter set-ups. Can anyone tell me a little more about this?

He's talking about the TPMS - tire pressure monitoring system. You do not need them for a new set of winter wheels; however, you will have a warning indicator on your dash. I solved the problem by buying a used set off Ebay for $105 shipped which was worth it to me to not have the constant warning light on my dash and to have the back-up of having my tire pressure monitored.

Bottom line; not required.

/Confirm. When I got my new wheels, I did not want to fork over the cash for TPMS sensors. I have my own tire pressure monitoring system- it's called checking the frakking pressure with a gauge every few weeks.

I just ignore the TPMS warning light on the dash.

If you are having a problem with a censor on your wheels, these guys should be able to help:

I'm sensing that that isn't your problem though.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
