holy crap ur actually taking the head off? last post i read was earlier this morning or yesterday! good luck man.

those bolts are kinda hard to get too. but i got them from underneath the car and also using a long adapter and placing between runners from the top.
 
I'm halfway through getting the head off. Anyone got any pointers on removing the bolts on the bottom side of the intake?

if i were you i'd go ahead and just remove the manifold as one piece. why are you taking the head off? you'll have to re-time the motor and everything. what a b****.
 
i very much doubt the flap made its way into the cylinder if anything a screw prob dropped in flap is to big to go past the valve if it was stuck between the valve and the head you would be shooting fire into you intake manifold as well
 
ill send u my pistons once i put my new ones in around thanksgiving break if u want em

doubt they are in better shape then yours though lol 203k miles and all...
 
gotta respect doin all the extra work to see the severity.. I woulda cheaped out and just tried to see if there was a screw in there. lol
 
I just wanna make sure I'll be ok with this motor or if I should just swap.

How do you re-time the motor?
 
there's a downloadable PDF file that has the entire protege anything.. i dont know where the hell it is. but step by step it tells you.
 
i've got the full version. had individual version of motor which is why i sent him that one. their very handy-exceptionally the parts manuals as well.
