Im buying forged pistons and rods next month. Any1 no wut else i will need to buy and throw in, that way ill never have to worry about blowing up?

pistons, rods, bearings, head studs, main studs, machining, crank balancing, gasket set, clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, release bearing. All in all about 4k in parts

if you dont want to worry about blowing up sell your car. What are your plans for your car if you get forged internals? If you wanna do it real easy hit up p3 performance with their core exchange program and you can send them your motor in good shape and they will give you a forged one for 3k....long and short blocks with many options....

that doesnt sound like a very good deal!

lawl, you guys crack me up. ill just get a few wrenches and a phillips head out and throw in some new pistons and rods so ill have 500 horzepowerz...

There's no such thing as a pop-proof engine. Build a pure race engine with all the tricks and all the strongest components. Run it hard and guess what -- thar she blows!

And, of course, increase hp in the engine and the weak link becomes the drive train -- the tranny, the diff, the axle shafts, etc.

You pays your money and you takes your chances. It's always pay to play.

well no i was just gonna do the pistons and rods, and keep the ko4 in. Im gonna keep the ko4 in for a while im gonna see wut i can get out of it. Then i may throw in a 28 or 30r.. but thats not for a while.. i just dont want to worry about the motor anymore, so i was gonna do the piston rod combo ken has on his site for 1300, and plus the head studs.. but u guys ir sayin i need all that s*** just to be safe?

im not gonna need a clutch or flywheel intill i go big turbo.

It'll run u a s*** load man. If you dont plan on pullin the motor yourself you are lookin around 2300 for labor on that plus machine shop costs which are about another 2k or more plus around 4 to 5 in parts it gets ridiculous quick. U should hold out a bit some companies on the "other forum" are gonna be puttin major r&d into these things real soon our rods have already been tested to 500 or so horse they just gotta figure out why rods are snappin under light throttle conditions and s***. Patience man!!!

I don't think the intention was to tell you that you need all that stuff to keep from blowing up. If you do get some as a safety measure it can help prevent it. If you think by going forged you can pile on mod after mod then you would be wrong.

You would be ignorant not to do one while the motor is out of the car.

im not gonna pay over a 1000 for a clutch when my stock one is perfect. When it begins to slip then ill get one. plus the motor wouldnt be out of the car the shop would do everything from the botom end.

i dont think it will be that much man, my boy with a speed 6 just shot a rod out of his block 3days ago, he called up this good local shop and they said theyll take out and put protegegarages built motor in for 1500. Now if their swaping a motor for 1500 how much could it be to repalce sum internals ya no? idk i gotta hit them up on monday. But really these rods have handled 500hp, even if thats just crank power thats hard to believe with the amount of blowns their are. How can i found out more about this testing, and how long do u think itll be till they find out?

already talked to ken about this, in the end. you're better off going with his forged block internals an and the other goodies for 5k it includes everything, which really isnt TOO bad considering. BUT you could go just rods and get gaskets and bearings to make that work. but honestly, you think about HOW MANY MS3s there are out there and just how many their are on THIS forum alone NOT TO MENTION ones that are not. and you see how many people blow their motors and its no entirely a lot. its entirely a thing that just HAPPENS. more so to heavily modded ones. unless youre looking to go 500hp (which in a fwd car is a mistake in my book) theres just no point.

but its also YOURE money and YOURE car.

Contact darrell cox racing about the rod capabilites they just did testing recently. And your boy is getting hooked up with that speed6. My injector seal failed on the first cylinder causing an intake valve to stick shut blew my pcv valve apart big oily mess anyways it ran me 2300 to remove the block tear it down put it back together then throw it back in then 2050 for machine shop work. 600 in gaskets seals bearing rings etc all this and no forged. Maybe i got ****** but this isn't as simple as it seems. If you can get it done cheap go for it man i wish i coulda but i gotta sell all 3 of my testicles to afford this s*** hahaha
