Not the Trailblazer SS we were looking for...But...

One of my best friends has a TB SS. He's done the usual exhaust, intake, reflash mods. His truck is very quick. We're very close in performance once moving. I edge him out a little though. As we get faster, it leans more toward me. It's a nice truck. Garbage fuel mileage though.

Everyone is soo Concerned with the Fuel Milage.

Between me and the GF and Two Vehicles..I bet we rack up a COMBINED 15K miles a year on our personal vehicles.

We knew buying them that htey were both gas hogs.

And believe me..they are...12 city on the Silvie..and about 13-14 on the TBSS.

I'm not concerned as I don't own one. It's something that certainly stands out to someone who gets mid 20s for mileage. I saw 10mpg and less in the city.

wow..10MPG city would be mashing it....EVERYWHERE!

LOL....
Not that it wouldnt be a fun drive from A to B with that driving style.

I just cant wait on the first decent snow...for two Reasons.

1...AWD Donuts FTMFW
2...See if OnStar Calls me while doing them thinking I am in a Wreck...LOL!

FF- Besides the fact the MPG #'s are crappy, it really is absolutely impossible to get any liveable mileage. What I mean is, there is no in-between, happy medium that you can drive at and still get decent mileage.

For example, the most mileage I could get out of my 2WD TBSS with EXTREMELY considerate throttle usage (I mean it, I drove like an old lady for a few tanks just to test it). I got 250 miles to the tank before my light came on. It's a 22 gallon tank, it's tough to swallow when you drive slow as mollasses and still have to come up with $50+ to fill it up. The day I handed the keys over to the new lessee, I filled up at $3.70 a gal in April and paid $74 for a tank. I drove out to his place 50 miles away, we went to secretary of state, he drove me back since I couldn't have anyone meet me out there and before he left, he had literally just above half tank. He drove a little less cautiously than me, but still.

It's definitely easier now with gas being so low in price. I could afford to put $50 now for 2 tanks of gas, not one. But still, the mileage is disappointing, and the fact that you can literally smash the gas pedal and visually see your gauge start going down. (idhitit)

I really liked how on my GTO, if I wanted to go fast, it could. But when I felt like taking it easy and having a nice cruise: activate 6th gear, let the gears roll right onto 2,000rpms and kick back and relax with 28mpg lol. Gotta love it! The TBSS is ALWAYS in ass-kicking mode: Higher rpms, always in the powerband, you can pass freakin anything at any speed, it's ready to buck!

I dunno man... I got three local guys here getting 300-400 Per tank mixed....I got 130 on just a 1/4 so far.....So I dont know.

But its a toy anyway...so no matter..Pay to play right.

And I do know there is a HUGE difference in milage from Truck to truck and driver to driver from what I have read.

As long as I average 14 or so..I will be happy.

Yeah, that'll always play into it.

My suggestion is keep all 4 tires at correct Psi, 36 preferrably. Less rolling resistance on those huge 255/55/20" tires. Disable ST/TC on the freeway and you should be in good shape.

Couple things to look for:

Rear End Grind while reversing and turning (had this issue myself, it was actually binding and I had to use more throttle to get the thing going at times)

That's all I can think of for now. Ultimately, set your expectations low for mileage. Reset the trip odo every fill up. When your light comes on, you should be down to 1.5-2 gallons left.

Also, if you are gauging 1/4th tank by the fuel gauge, you might actually be closer to half. In my previous GM trucks it falls slowly to half tank and then sinks like a stone once you're past half tank.

Oh no..I know.
This isnt my first GM...But the DIC says I will Have about 250mi. Range left...and it uses an Average and is pretty close in most of the vehicles of people I have talkd to and in our New SIlverado..so I would be getting about 350 from this tank alone....

Enough with the Gas milage though...Fact is they are thirsty pigs and I know it!
LOL!

Now I must go fill up the underground storage tanks while gas is cheap.

BRB.

that's how i am, even with kids. i will still have the p5 and the rx7 when i get one and i still have my work truck with a company gas card. i fill up my p5 once every two or three weeks and the rx7 hasn't been filled up in over a month. i don't spend much of anything on gas, ever.

I like it....It needs a little more kick in the ass though...but it will come in due time.
Not that anyone Cares...But "Due TIme" Came....and now it looks a bit like this under the hood.

Thats the point....Its supposed to look stock.

And I have a couple of extra smaller pullies here for as soon as we get her dialed in.....Shooting for about 500HP at all four wheels.

Not that many Care.....
But with the new BLower Setup and some Tuning and tweaking, I have gotten this 5K Lb. Pig to a Best of 12.6@108MPH with a 1.8 60ft.

There is still more left in her, and I am hoping to get it down to the 12 flat or 11.xx Range.

And yes, its daily Driven with Excellent Street manners.
If you had never driven one, you would think it came this way Sans the exhaust rumble.
