FF- Besides the fact the MPG #'s are crappy, it really is absolutely impossible to get any liveable mileage. What I mean is, there is no in-between, happy medium that you can drive at and still get decent mileage.
For example, the most mileage I could get out of my 2WD TBSS with EXTREMELY considerate throttle usage (I mean it, I drove like an old lady for a few tanks just to test it). I got 250 miles to the tank before my light came on. It's a 22 gallon tank, it's tough to swallow when you drive slow as mollasses and still have to come up with $50+ to fill it up. The day I handed the keys over to the new lessee, I filled up at $3.70 a gal in April and paid $74 for a tank. I drove out to his place 50 miles away, we went to secretary of state, he drove me back since I couldn't have anyone meet me out there and before he left, he had literally just above half tank. He drove a little less cautiously than me, but still.
It's definitely easier now with gas being so low in price. I could afford to put $50 now for 2 tanks of gas, not one. But still, the mileage is disappointing, and the fact that you can literally smash the gas pedal and visually see your gauge start going down. (idhitit)
I really liked how on my GTO, if I wanted to go fast, it could. But when I felt like taking it easy and having a nice cruise: activate 6th gear, let the gears roll right onto 2,000rpms and kick back and relax with 28mpg lol. Gotta love it! The TBSS is ALWAYS in ass-kicking mode: Higher rpms, always in the powerband, you can pass freakin anything at any speed, it's ready to buck!
