Set the timing marks all correctly. Intake cam I at 12oclock and E pointing at the E on the block etc etc.

car turns over but wont start.

all harnesses are plugged in.

Anything I missed?

What year is yours? On the 1.6s, the I points at the I, and the E points at the E timing marks. I don't imagine it would be any different.

uhh... you got it setup wrong

if I remember correctly, the BPs have BOTH cam gears pointed towards the water pump... the marks are on the back dust cover!
RTM if you want to make sure... should've lined it up to TDC before you took it all apart... would've made life sooo much easier and not need any stinking manual!

I had it all timing correctly actually.

I installed the plate that sits behind the crank pulley on backwards. Flipped it and the car fired right up.

I brought along a mechanic. He couldnt figure it out. He had to call the master tech over at mazda. Even he took a while to figure it out.

wtf. If that part is so damn crucial, why isn't it mentioned in ANY manual, or how to guide?

(notcool)

Anyway, thanks for the help?

Car is running better then when I bought it. awesomeness.
