tire pressure indicator light!!

What is the life expectancy of a TPM?

5 to 10 years depending on how much you drive the car. The battery power is used only when the car is moving. The sensor does not draw very much power, but the batteries shelf life is probably not much over ten years, so even if the sensor drew no power, the battery would die at an average age of ten years. The more often you drive it, the less life the battery has.

technically infinite, its got a mechanism in it that as the wheel spins, recharges it somehow. and just a heads up the tpms on our cars analyzes each wheel relative to the other, so if you have 4 wheels at 20 psi, nothings gonna show on the dash

I'm pretty sure that my windshield wiper is setting off my TPMS on my 08.5. For those who had it fixed under warranty what did you tell the dealership?

Sorry, wrong and wrong. Manufacturers are working on energy harvesting techniques for TPMS sensors, but none exist to date. The Mazda unit uses a lithium watch battery.

And each sensor reports back if its pressure falls below a preset value - something like 24 psi - not sure of the exact pressure.

Found the pressures. Per Mazda Service Bulletin # 02-002/03:

The TPMS light will illuminate when air pressure is:
* At or below 26 PSI
* At or above 51 PSI

Seeing the max and lowest psi... What does everyone keep their tires at?? I just recently had a problem with one of my tires leaking so I put mine at 40 psi to see where I'm getting leaks....
