No just don't drive it like a S2000 24/7 and you'll be alright.
Last night I came pretty close to the redline, if not right under it. I have only done like 2 other times, and im almost positive it didnt go past 6700. Is it bad for the engine to get close to it like that?
Bloody lucky if you're still making power on a close to stock speed at 6200, even. I have an AEM CAI, A Forge BPV and a CS downpipe and the car is still signing off at 6K.
There's no need to run it up but, you won't blow it up doing it. Japanese car redlines are typically the maximum SUSTAINED engine speed, not the "warning-danger-to-manifold" grenade limit, not to be touched.
I never go past 6k, what's the point. There's no power left after that...(ughdance)
There's "holding" power and "making" power...what you need is to be in line for the next shift so you drop into the fat part of the power curve. The sort and close gearing in the MS3 means you don't have to wring its neck to access its acceleration like....a Honda. In fact, you can actually go slower for doing it. The turbo is still pretty small in the car, getting it to heat the air is pretty easy if you push it hard.
so shift early, shift often. save your car, your money, and your 1/4 mi times. lol
the one liners have just been coming to me for the last couple days, idk what it is! lolWell said. Excellent exercise in concise truth.
