Sounds like the water pump is shot. I had one go out in my jeep and it sounded like someone threw gravel in the engine. my guess is that the belt came off and fluids stopped moving like they should and overheated something in the pump.

idk I say keep runnin this thing for a while... by the time you're ready to do the swap you'll know if this engine is any good.

if you have to overheat and engine... the perfect time to do it is when you've got another good one in your posession, and plans which require ripping the current one anyway.ya... def wouldnt use the word perfect..

yes, you can do the swap without yanking the engine... but I wouldn't... its easier just to pull the whole thing.
