Sounds like some guys need some help in the lightning department. I'll post a detailed "how-to" on shooting lightning for my next blog. Should help a lot of you out as I see a lot of "maybe's" and misconceptions being posted here. As soon as I have it up I'll be sure to post a link here for it. I will make it as detailed and simple as possible, like my HDR tutorial. Click on the link in my signature to go to my website, the click the link to my blog to read it. it's there.. my controls were set to simple, so it was hidden..

Now I need some good free HDR software so I can try it out (and better post processing software, or any pp software).

LOL..good. Go download Lightroom or something. Maybe just focus on taking really good pics without relying on PP software try that for a challenge!

I've never used real pp software before (I don't think Picasa counts, post processing seems like an afterthought), I was mostly thinking for HDR photos.. I'd really like to shoot an HDR sunset.

We;ve already covered HDR and all that in this thread. THere's tons of info if you just ran a search on this thread alone. And either bite the bullet and pay or go find it online somewhere.

I think I remember that.. didn't it get pretty heated?
anyway, I've already read two How Too's so I think I actually know what I'd be getting into, so you'll be seeing no questions from me, only pictures when/if I get it done.

good luck with the D60... get a NICE lens to do this and you might get somewhere... the D60's body is very slow compared to the D90... speed is important when you're taking sports shots

I'll vouch for that....just sold my D60 (for as much as I paid for it, god love uninformed craigslisters too lazy to see what something is worth, haha) and my D90 should get here on Thursday. A great camera to learn on, but you'll be itching for something better when you get into some semi-pro techniques and mess around with some higher end cameras and appreciate what they can do. Also, with the D60 you have to get built in motor lenses so it ends up costing more in the long run. I'd say buy one good all around lens and then wait and see if you want to upgrade the body before investing too much in glass. Just my 2 cents though.

yup... you're saying exact what I said many pages ago... I hit the wall with my D60 after 2 weeks of use... trading it in for the D90 and losing $100 out of the whole deal was well worth it

No worries, I didnt pay for the camera. Its my dads and I end up using it more than he does. It wouldnt be my first choice, but it gets the job done for now. I personally like the Cannon AT-1 we used in my school photo class. I like actually developing my film, feeling more involved and a bigger rush when you get a shot that turns out great.

yeah, film is a lot of fun... still need to dig out my old cameras one of these days

film is fun, but too much $ when you have as many "just kidding" shots as I do. My friend only shoots in film and he's developed some of the best shots I've ever seen....I guess I'm just not talented enough for film, haha.
