Ok, so, not planning on buying a new car, I stumbled across an used protege (323 called here), and it was a bargain. I payed 4000€ (approx. $5k5 - hell, prices here in Europe for japs are way off) for a protege sedan, 2001, 1.8 liter gasoline engine, fully loaded, power windows / mirrors, climate control, 4 airbags, alloys, ABS...
It only had 87 000 km (54 000 miles)... engine purrs like a kitten, the body has no sign of rust, and overall, it seems to be in a great shape...
It was owned by a guy who didn't drive it a lot, and he took great care of it...
I needed to replace my timing belt and do some other touch-ups on the car, and came across this forum... It helped me a lot so I decided to join in, and hopefully help someone else in the future...
