Speed3 got tapped from behind,..hows this painshop as a fix?

Long story short, went on vacation last weekend to a theme park, came back out and someone parked behind me and hit the back of my car, putting scratches in the back of it. Well, I dont have the $200 to get it painted, so Im having a sign place make a flat black vinyl stripe to go in the back 2 inch by 2 foot area above the flat black license plate area. Its cheap and I think it wont look too bad. My car is a Metro Gray, not red like the pic. Also had a nice chunk of paint taken out of the valley to pop the hatch, so thats getting a flat black piece of vinyl there, too.

If its vinyl, Its cheap, and its properly applied...I say go for it.

It will look OK and be different at the same time.

Thats what I figure, and this is a place that does boats and signs and cars,...and its such a small piece, I cant see them messing it up. And since the car is so dark anyways, it wont stick out too much.

what about touch up paint? or touch it up to prevent cracks and such, then still put the vinyl...... just a thought to protect it more.

that might actually look cool, man. something similar happened to me. a big rock hit the painted part just around the foglight. so i've been wanting to get that vinyl wrapped satin black, or painted.

that actually doesn't look bad at all.... the part over the black on the bumper isn't even noticeable.....and the part by the handle looks decent and it looks like you are just trying to protect the paint from scratches there.....good job.

haha wow, that is amazing. I would never have guessed you put that there to cover up scratches. I am actually considering the very same thing because I have tons of scratches in that handle area of the bumper.

Do eeeet. It's cheap, and replaceable if it gets messed up again.

nice job. cheap fix for an expensive part and like said before if this thread wasnt exactly about it i never would have noticed. plus if you ever have another bumper problem....get more vinyl. sweet.

the only problem with vinyl is that it shows any surface imperfection that is under it. if there a little dust or hair you will see it...with a scratch, you will see it still
