DIY head/tail tint

:
06 LS MS6
07 BM GT (shell has been struck from the roll)
Has anyone tried to get standard tint to heatshrink enough to form to our head tail lenses??

'm about to give it a try but I have to buy a hairdryer first and thought I'd shout out to see if its just plain a nogo

I tried to use that to tint my turn signals. The problem I had was that the tint was just not pliable enough and was too thin to make a good turn and be stretched/pulled.

Maybe the lights might be better as the area is not so small and curved.

Beware, this is going to be a long post. It's late I have nothing to do so I'll talk school:

When you say standard- I'm pretty sure you are referring to regular "standard" window tint film...if so, there are a few two or three pictures I think floating around of my headlights in which I used regular "window" tint film.

However, I didn't use expensive window film (can't think of the brands from the top of my head) but I bought the cheap tints that Advance Auto Zone/Auto Zone sells. Why? It's pointless and waist of money to buy "standard" film as it will eventually start to peel off around the corners. How bad and how soon it starts to peel will vary on the shape of the headlight.

I've done mine (and ON HEADLIGHTS ONLY) the film looked sick and did the job. Middle section of the headlight (if you know what you are doing) will stick very well but you gotta work the corners- you're going to work pretty hard but you just won't get them to stick to the corners because they contain to adhesive on the side that you apply the tint on.

I had LaminX or however you spell on my tail lights. I had it for about 6 months and just today I switched to Nightshades. What a difference. Caution: don't use nightshades (seriously) if you don't know what you are doing. If you end up with "bleeds" or "spots" and you don't know how to remove the spray say bye-bye to your lights- as you will smear the living hell out of them. With night shades you should have a perfectly nice dark or very dark transparent tails with no spots or bleeds if done right.

Same goes for headlights. I spent 90 dollars of LaminX and Oracle film (cut enough to do the headlights and fogs- bought it from a tint shop) and that money was pissed away- the minute I put them on, Oracle first, it came right off; same goes for LaminX.

I think that's it for now.

Nightshades are the best results..I agree..the LaminX and Oracle..was the same " bad " ending..Thumbs up for those whom had better luck..

Thanx
as I expectd
yea, I bought a roll of the lightest stuff walmart had

I just really do not want to take the step of commiting a pair of lenses to the idea, so the paint is out
I may try to do strips to get it to form better but the seam will tend to peel real quick exposed to rain

no win
