I went to Midas today for an oil change. Of course they showed me how bad the back tires were (they were I knew it) and gave me a decent price on replacement tires.... I get back home and I noticed they put two 205/40R17 in place of the 205/50R17!!!

I went back and the sweet talking manager told me it is perfectly fine. Tires is what we do... Midas... Hmmm.... Did I get F-ed?

I had asked them to put on the front too!

no thats unacceptable. take it back and s*** a storm.

What the should have done was rotate your front tires to the year, and put the proper sized new tires on the front.

Too low...will throw off your speedo (to some degree) and screw up your ride.....give em s***.
Anyway, I see that I'm not the only member who's had to put up with incompetent Service Managers at Mazda.
Good luck.

nope, not the same at all....if they were the same and it'd be fine they wouldn't be two different sizes. Go back and tell them to do their job right this time. They're unloading inventory on you and hoping they can get one by you. Odds are they had that set in the back and it's not often someone only asks for 2 tires.

6.4% too fast...at 60 mph, your speedo is only going to read 56.
Expecting the right size tire is not too much to ask. It would have been another story if they explained the difference and allowed you to choose.

i am pretty sure you won't pass inspection with 2 different size tires on your car... especially if you have ABS i know thats a big no no.... take it back and tell them to do it right.

Thanks all. I appreciate your answers.

I got scammed. I went to that dude because the Mazda dealer was out to get me (just off warranty) and I thought it couldn't be worse...
