NEMOC Random BS Thread

Yea, you just missed our Spring Clean meet. Ashley is right, you most likely have water spots that may be etched in over time. Depending on how deep they are will determine the proper course of action and products to use. If you really want a pro detail feel free to come down to my house and I'll hook you up. ;)

Oh, and Chris...congrats dude. My wife teaches and though they are just little kids she knows the positive impact she has on their lives. I bet it feels great.

Oh yeah it feels great. To this day I still have a quote on my desk from a student who filled out an end of course critique sheet. The sheets allow the students to list what they liked or what they disliked about the course, intsructors, etc... It's all anonymous.

Here is what the one posted on my desk says:

"If it wasn't for ET1(SS) Yeomans staying late and giving me extra help after night study I would never have been able to pass this course."

Now I also get my fair share of bad comments too, but those are mostly from problem students that I have to be a hard ass to.

I just had someone make my day. No... Make my whole month. In a good way!

I had a student approach me that I taught quite a few months ago and thanked me for being so hard on him in class. He realized what I was trying to teach him, not only in academics, but as a sailor and in life. He graduated towards the bottom of my class while he was with me and wound up graduating at the top of all his next classes. He came up to me this afternoon to apologize to me for the way he acted in my class and that he realized what I was trying to get him to understand for himself.

Ahh... It's things like this that make me feel like my job is worth it sometimes.
Teaching is rarely rewarding, but you do it for the few you can make a difference for. Here's a cheezy poem my wife got from school (on more than one occasion).

You're a good man charlie brown! I still remember the teacher (middle school) who turned me around. I went from bottom of my class to graduating at the top of my class both in middle school, high school and college. You gotta figure if you know you can get to at least one person who needed it you've done a good job.

I've had Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing stuck in my head for the last few hours....

Looks like I am going to have to find it and put it on my iPod for the drive tomorrow.. =/

So while some of y'all were enjoying Lime Rock, I was rockin a crowd of 400-some kids at AnimeBoston 2009, like so, so and so. (apparently I like to throw my hands in the air). My set was fire and the crowd seemed to be eating it all up too!

hello from the netherlands! I have been up for 24 hrs now. I'm having random missfire thought processes now otherwise known as delirious!
