Just Installed Protege Garage's Custom Short Ram Intake

Thus why I am running a 7" K&N filter. I noticed a big difference over the AEM dryflow filter.
i dont think the size is causing a difference here, i think it is the different TYPE of filter. if you want to truly test this try finding a big and small filter of the same brand and design.

Hmmmm, this sounds like it might have just jumped ahead of the CP-E SRI with a $10 powdercoat and possible larger filter. Ken, would it be possible to bundle with the 7" K&N that Qwik6 is using?

Does this one feel solid when mounted? Anyone currently using this with the Speedie6 TIP?

solid as a rock. i need the part number of the filter he is using. i could offer it as an ms6 upgrade.

for sure! flat black if possible. i didn't see an option for it when i ordered it, so i was going to attempt it myself. i'm more confident in your abilities to do it than mine.

i'll bake it this weekend and post a picture for you

longer size speed6 specific cobb filter ftw (not saying a thing against PG good work on the quality undercut guys!) i just feel that tinglie feeling knowing i have that extra so and so inches and cumulative surface space.

Above is your original comment SS, no where in there do you give a good reason why "that extra so and so inches" is such a good thing. There are people on this board who do not understand that. Now below you did a great job of this and I appreciate you spelling it out. I do not disagree that more surface area is a good thing. Will your car see gains? Yes, will they be worth the extra money, $15 isn't much based on Ken's post, so why not spend the extra money.

The reason I came off negative is that it drives me nuts when someone responds to a post that they like another part better because of so and so and don't take the time to explain it as you have below. Opinions are like a$$holes we all have one, but if you have proof thats something else all together. Had your repsonse below been your initial response we wouldn't be wasting our time arguing. No where did I say the filter was to big, and if you want to utilize the extra space more power to you.

As for the price/undercutting you make a valid point. That would be undercutting, PG made the right move in doing it as they can offer an intake of the same quality for less thats a good thing for us. Competition breeds innovation and cost savings for all of us.

cobb offers a larger filter to fit in the extra space the speed6 has. and its common sense that more surface area and a greater cone vortex not only compresses MORE air but it gets slightly cooler because it has a longer distance to build speed and vaccuum pressure by the time it enters the intake tube. i think you did mean to sound negative. and offering a better price is called undercutting the competition, sorry guy. of course a bigger filter is better. TOO big isn't, but unfortunately the speed3 guys have to sacrifice filter size because of compact space. im pretty sure speed6 cobb filter is standard size for most aftermarket intakes, and not larger than its supposed to be.

Thanks Ken! I think I've just found my new intake. Shopping is a no-no until our house closes and we get through the first month or so of setting up cable, internet, etc., but once I'm free to spend again this looks like a winner. Has anyone confirmed that the larger K&N fits OK?

Oh, I forgot to ask about shipping to Canada?

Also, thank you for being so responsive and available. And even offering member-suggested upgrades! Good customer service goes a long way in my book.
