The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I was in Tennessee this weekend with my band and saw a few nice Mazdas on the highways but couldn't get my camera phone started quick enough. But what's up with Kentucky's tint laws? They don't have any? Almost every car there had the front windows tinted at 15% and no front plates. Lucky bastards...

I have never put front plates on any car I've owned... Never had a cop say anything about it. And I've dealt with many a police officer.

I've been pulled over 3x with my P5 for a front plate violation.

I think smaller towns may be a bit worse for this... Granted I always drive around with my front plate under my passenger seat, just in case so I can pull the "O i just had my bumper off and I was in a hurry so I didn't get it back on, sorry officer..." Or something to that extent. :D Maybe I've just gotten lucky lol *knock on wood*

^^^ I've been pulled over twice for no front plate and got away with just verbal warnings till last december in Kent. A State Highway Patrol officer pulled me over because it was mounted in the front windshield on the passenger side with suction cups. He gave me a written warning even though I told him the license plate nuts are stripped. He told me to buy a new bumper. Haha!

I just have my fingers crossed I don't get pulled over for such a stupid minor thing again. But it was Kent, cops are pricks in Kent. Right Stephen?

My front plate is off to the driver's side in a position that least blocks my FMIC and foglight. I keep it on all the time, but it is easily removeable for car shows.

I got pulled over for it once by cuyahgoa cop but it was like 330 in the morning lol. He had someone else pulled over I wached as I was driving up he got in his car. Dude never turned off his lights from previous stop and pulled me over before I barely drove past him. I got a written warning, I just keep it up in front right of my window now. I really dont notice it much, got it so doesnt rattle and it keeps me from gettin DUI checks. I had border patrol returning from canada give me a hard time about it once too.

My ex had hers set up like yours in her Civic. Got all kinds of crap until she got rid of the big Honda banner in her front window. No one cared after that.

How did you mount it? I want to mount it to the front bumper so I dont get harrassed (plus I have illegal tint) but don't want to drill holes through the bumper. I zip tied it to the front grill but didn't want to block the radiator. Any pics of it installed? Just curious.

ps- I gotta get a ride in your P5 someday... (wrc)

I have the MP3 front wind splitter so I've already drilled several holes in the bottom of the front bumper cover. I just took two pieces of 1/8" thick aluminum and drilled some holes to make a mount. I used two of the bolts holding the wind splitter to mount the brackets. What sucks is apparently VA and OH license plates are slightly different. I made my brackets when I still lived in VA and I could use all four bolt holes. When I moved to OH only the top two bolt holes still fit.

I finally got a ride in SATimko's MSM yesterday... I'm still suffering from perma-grin. Everyone keeps asking me "Whats so funny?". Whew, that is amazingly fun car and quick as balls. I was laughing like a little kid the whole time I was having so much fun.

I'm looking froward to seeing it on the autocross track soon, Stephen!

I just drove 8 hours to Charlotte NC, then 7 hours to Dundee OH for two gigs now I'm home for 3 hours of sleep. Then wake up at 2am to head to the Indy500, then 5 hours back home. It's been a loooong weekend of driving. Thankfully I'll get to drive my P5 to the race. Driving the 15 passenger van leaves much to be desired as far as performance. Haha

Hope everyone has a great memorial day weekend. (rockon)

Damn Evan! Now I see why you're opting to leave that band. Good tunes, but so many long trips. Hope Indy goes well.
