oil change intervals - full synthetic

just changed the oil in the speed last night... 8000 miles, second oil change.. i gave this one 4500 miles. i started running full synthetic after the first oil change.. 3500 miles.

you guys running full synthetic (not a blend).. at what intervals are you changing your oil?

with regular oil, i always did 3000 - 5000 miles per oil change.. and i have heard with full synthetic, you can go to 7000 miles...

just curious what you guys are doing...

I have stuck to the 4500 miles as my interval, though it is full synth its hard for me to go past that just out of habit.

Edit: Penzoil Platinum

Switched to Pen Plat @ 1,800, changed again @ 5,000, will do another at 10,000 keeping the 5k intervals from then on.

I aim for the 5k but will change it early for a road trip or if I have been driving the car harder than normal. Penzoil Platinum FTW.

the manual states 7500, right? and that's on mineral oil, so it would seem it could last even longer on full synthetic. can somebody explain the need to change oil at shorter intervals then the manual specifies?

I've been using nothing but Redline motor oil, and I have been past 6,000 with no issues on a built motor. 6 years of abuse on a built motor...

I will go 5000 no more on ANY oil... remember the oil may not break down but the deposits are still they and those are running across the lobes on your cam etc..

the longer they are there the more scoring they will do..

5K is the max..

and I wont use anything but REAL FULL SYNTHETIC Base stock 5 ELF/total engine oil

Penz is not a base stock 5 it is not a REAL synthetic.. it is the us proversion of synthetic

the hassle of finding ELF oil and it's higher cost is just not worth it. I am all for protection but not at a point of diminishing returns.

Wouldn't want the cam lobes to get mucked up in that rotary!

btw if you knew anything about rotaries u would also know that the rotary engines "crank" other wise known as the ecentric shaft is just an extremely large camshaft with lobes on it. :)

and the ELF/Total oil is not hard to find, just gotta know the person to ask

Right I missed it when you said ecentric shaft lobes, oh wait.
