Has anyone tried transferring the transmission and such parts from the speed6 to the speed3 to make it AWD, aren't then engines the exact same or almost the same.

But other than that. No.

Ya i have seen that video but I couldn't find out if that was the speed6 transmission or not

ummm i dont know if im wrong but doesnt the transmission give power to the wheels and since the speed6 is awd and speed3 is fwd wouldnt that make them different

if you want AWD buy a subie or evo/ralliart. of course people have thought about it, but few have tried and for good reason. simply put its going to be nowhere near worth the money to do it, and all you'll have is an MS3 thats better from a dig and in the snow.

The actual gearbox is the same on both the speed 3 & 6. The front differential is what makes it different.

slightly OT but same ballpark... car & driver mag took a mazda5 and tried to install the MS3 powertrain. read here
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/high_performance/mazda_mania/return_of_the_boss_wagon_mazdaspeed_5_project_car

but bottom line is that, even w/ the help of a comm college auto class and an ex-crysler engineer it turned out to be a pain in the gluteus maximus. i can't even imagine what swapping out differentials etc must be like...

yeah but they were able to do it. but thats a bit different too. Mazda5 is based off of the 3, so even with just a straight swap like that they had to swap the ecu and all which made it a pain for them.. To try to get the 6 stuff to fit in the 3 is a different thing entirely.

Yah they have the same engine and gearbox... does mean everything is built the same way.

There is a 2.3L 6 which is the same as the 3s 2.3L (stated because the 3's mounting points are the same as the ms3) so I wonder if the 2.3L 6 people have tried to swap the ms3 powertrain into it. Just saying that it would be more of straight swap than the ms3 to ms6. (again complete engine harness needed)
