Badge Mods - lets see them!

How exactly can you do the grille painting? It looks sweet and I want to do it to my car... What do you use and how do you do it? Same with emblems... do you just pop them off and paint them?

For mine, I just popped the hood, took the emblems off and then taped the grill off on the edges. Then took some fine grit sandpaper and sanded every inch of it real smoothly to get rid of the clear coat. Then I used satin black paint, did 3 coats of it, let it dry, then bam I was done. Took no time to dry. Make sure to put plenty of newspaper around where its taped at so you don't get overspray. The emblems I Have a bought used locally from a fellow MS3 owner and they are the Street Unit gloss black painted front and rear mazda emblems, so I can't help you there.

nicee yea I just painted all mine red, waiting for them to dry before putting them back on....take really long for some reason, been like 8-9 hours and still if i put pressure on it leave a finger print

I'm thinking about losing the "Mazdaspeed3" badge... I defidently want to paint the Flying Ms black and the grille black along with blacked out reflectors and side markers and these:

speed 6r how did you paint your badge???

I soaked mine in bleach, sanded, and sprayed with 2 layers. I guess I did a bad sanding job but it doesn't look that smooth from up close.

Love the blacked out lights btw.

I first, Rolled a blunt, got out the heat gun, (and some fishing line), removed the badges by obvious methods, sanded the badges using wet sand paper, primer, -flat blk,- mat clear coat, (still smoking, or re-sparking at this point) re installed, and VWALA! donski! I used roof shingle tar to re apply the Mazdaspeed badge in the left corner, and i left out the "6" but it was super easy!

So you didn't bleach urs? I think the bleach is what messed mine up. Didn't remove the chrome evenly.

I like the black mazdaspeed. Too bad I bent mine in half while pulling it off. Didn't realize it was such wimpy plastic.

Yea my "mazdaspeed" badge almost broke too. I used NO bleach just scuffed up the chrome with wet sand paper.

i put the "mazdaspeed 3" badge on the dash trim. its a little crooked in the pic but has been straightened out since then. and then blacked out the mazda logos front and back

For those of you who have painted your badges, what kind of paint did you use? I'm figuring the paint for plastic model cars would do really well, eh?
