so here's some random BS for ya.....
Last week on like Wed or Thu I bought a new TV on amazon
It shipped on friday.
On Sunday I tried to use my CC on the playstation network store...it got declined so I log into the website and when I go to my account there is a ton of red type saying how due to detected fraud my card has been deactivated and a new one has been issued. It gives me a 1-800 number to call about paying the balance and stuff but mentions nothing about approving the questioned transaction or verifying the fraudulent charge or anything.
So anyway I go look at my account and the TV hasnt shown up yet as having been charged to it.
I am thinking the chances are very slim that this happens but it seems plausible to me that for whatever reason the credit card flagged that purchase as being the fraud....stopped it from being applied to my account (even though the transaction was approved) and then deactivated my card and issued a new one. Which would mean the CC company writes off my transaction as a loss, but since it has already shipped - and since the transaction went through for amazon - i still get the stuff....
The real odd part to me is that they would not like temporarily disable the account so i could re-enable it, and they didnt call me about the transactions, or anything like that....they just flat out definitively determined it was bogus, cut up my card and issued a new one without asking me for approval or verification at any step.
In using this CC in the past for large transactions in europe and in other parts of the US I have had to call the 1-800 number to get the card reinstated or been called to approve a transaction but this is a first...
