Out with the CBE in with the TBE

correct me if im wrong but the difference between a catted and non-catted TBE would be a cat in the DP section?

like said above, the test pipe would replace the 2nd cat. however, i just gutted the entire 2nd cat and have no need for a $180 test pipe now. :D

A catted DP/RP could be set up with a single cat in either the DP or the RP location. It can be in either place. I have not studied the catted TBE's on the market to see where they put the cat.

There are owners here running true catless DP, but have a high flow cat in the second section, where an RP would be, in order to pass emissions in their state.

I say, if you don't have to pass an emissions test in your state, go totally catless.

Now I got people telling me that I want a high flow cat because there should be some back pressure when dealing with a turbo car. But the Trubo XS TBE doesn't come with a high flow cat it only comes with the rp. I know that the Cp-e TBE comes with a high flow cat, but what if one day I want throw a test pipe in there just for fun then I can't unless I cut out the cat. Ughh any suggestions???

just get the turbo-xs, if u want a a highflow cat get one made that will fit in place of the RP at a local shop.. if anything u can just put the stock rp back in.. u have more versitillity with the turbo xs with the tow pieces inttead of cp-es and cobbs one piece set up..plus their alot more $$

if thats how you feel then get the stainless works catted downpipe. comes with a straight pipe to put in place of the cat

im running a catless cp-e

i havent had a cell either with my corksport catless dp. id say just get the cheapest catless system you can and whatever cbe you want. that or just remove your resonators and get the cbe sound for way less if you can live with not having a full 3 in exhaust

if you can live with not having a full 3 in exhaust

I have a 3 inch catless DP/RP into the stock CBE. I can live without the full 3 inch exhaust from the RP exit to the exhaust tip. because our stock CBE can flow more horses and torque than our K04 turbo is capable of producing. The restriction is upstream, not in the CBE. The CBE flow will not be an issue until you get north of 300 whp.

3in catless DP then just weld a 3in straight pipe to a hks muffler

Not quite that simple. "Just weld"? What about the need to have mandrel bent pipe that navigates under, around and through the things that are between the DP and the back bumper? You need flanges, hangers, you need to consider the location of heat shielding, routing within the undercarriage tunnel, the cross member over the second cat or RP, etc.

It is best to get a commercial DP/RP combo that has all the proper mandrel bent tubing and with the proper flanges and connectors. You can then connect that to the stock CBE. You can then cut out the resos and or muffler and replace with whatever will fit without rubbing, without hitting the shielding etc.

While Cobb isnt advertising the TBE, They still make em. surgelinetuning in portland,or has them in stock all the time.

i sell stainless works dp.. catted or catless. with the catted one you can go catless when ever you like...the race pipe something free i include... check them out.. there are a few peeps here that have em', including me...

Wait you just confused me. I need an exhaust with a high flow cat because I am in a emission state. But for the exhaust you are advertising the catted exhaust is not interchangeable maybe I am just confused with what you said, but the exhaust on the site does not seem like I can just go catless whenever I want unless I do some cutting. Plus the catted dp is like 200 bucks more. I guess I just need a little clarity.

it is interchangeable.. the cat can be removed and a race pipe, which i include for free, can be put in place. so basically you get best of both worlds. the clamps are accu seal band clamps which are the highest torque clamps there are.
