Fs/ft 1988 Rx-7 Gxl

Looking mainly to trade my 1988 RX-7, but may sell for the right price. I'm looking for a 2002 and up Protege 5, MP3 or Mazdaspeed Protege or even a Mazda 3/6. Must be a stick shift.

My RX-7 is very clean, I am only the second owner and I have all of the original paperwork and receipts for the car from the past 20 years. Just hit 100K this year. This car is an ALL STOCK FC with no mods except for the rims and window tint. Unmolested in any way and ADULT owned and driven. I'm just a Mazda lover in search of another Mazda. I am in Central Ohio.

I will trade for whats stated above and that's about it. It has to be another Mazda. I am only looking for trades right now. Cash is only a last resort.

I am also willing to throw in cash from my end so that the trades are even. Book on my car is about $4,000.

very possible... its like a 3-4 hr drive. could make a day's trip out of it. just depends on the offer. I'd have to have the lein on the car paid off.

You must have got a real good deal then. The cars book is at least $4,000. As soon as the rain clears I will post more pics of the inside to show just how clean this car is. This is not a race or modded car. This is a very clean all original, garaged, non-smoker in daily driver.

Like I said, I am not in for the cash. I would just like to trade it for nice 2002+ Mazda. I think my RX-7 for a nice MP3 or a Protege 5 is a pretty equal trade, considering the value of the RX-7 will only go up with time, while an MP3/P5 probably will not. (At least not for a while.)

I am only willing to throw in a couple thousand with the trade if you have something worth more. So don't throw you cars in the trading ring expecting me to trade you my car and $5,000 or something for your super turbo modded street racer. I would much rather have a nice stock MSP.

what i was going to say was that the value for an FC wont be going up anytime soon. Granted you have a beautiful stock car, i wouldnt pay 4k for it.

I KBB'd a '89 (didn't have '88) and it said something like 4150 excellent cond. with 100k miles. So he's not completely off the mark.

We don't really need price bashing in this guy's thread.
Someone will likely pay close to what he's asking for a nice clean unmolested RX7. This is a gearhead's car and those people tend to buy cars based on want over need.

Honestly I don't even know if I would take the cash. People asked about price so $4,000 was just a number I threw out there based on book value so people had an idea of what I was looking for in a trade. If I wanted the money I would just sell the car locally. There is no doubt in my mind that I could easily get that price or close to it for it here in town. But I want a newer and bigger Mazda and they are hard to come by where I live. (closest Mazda dealer is an hour away)

So after some research I thought this was the best way to find someone that had the kind of car I am looking for and would like to trade for mine. Plus I would feel much better trading my car to another Mazda lover that would take care and appreciate it.

My ideal trade would be my RX-7 for a nice clean Protege 5 or MP3. I love the way they look and it just the right size for me and my family. We do have a 1993 Protege right now, but she is pushing over 200K now and its time to let her go. (we have had it for almost 10 years now). That's the whole reason why I am trying to trade my 7. I would just go out and buy a newer Mazda, but money is tight right now and we are getting ready to move.

+1 FC's dont tend to go up in value like FD's do.

pretty sure I wouldn't be trading a car that is 15 years newer with lower miles for yours without at least 5 grand kicker... if we're going by book value, you'd have at least that much difference to cover. GL with sale...
