COBB Tuning has reconsidered its position on AccessTUNER Race for the MAZDASPEED3/6 platform. Response to the announcement of AccessTUNER Race availability for September 2009 was so extreme and customer confidence in their ability to self-tune is so high that COBB Tuning has changed its strategy regarding the MAZDASPEED market.

AccessTUNER Race for the MAZDASPEED3/6 will be available on April 20th, 2009. This will be the first non-beta release of AccessTUNER Race. The software will be available on our website in the MAZDASPEED3 and MAZDASPEED6 Power section for purchase at $195 per license. This pricing is commensurate with development time, development effort and total size of the MAZDASPEED3/6 market .

AccessTUNER Race software will be locked to a single AccessPORT. The online ordering process will require the serial number of the AccessPORT be captured. Starting on April 20th, software delivery will be fulfilled within 24 hours of order placement.

There will be no telephone or email support for AccessTUNER Race. COBB Tuning has provided a dedicated forum for the Mazda community to discuss issues and tuning strategies HERE. An in-depth AccessTUNER Race Tuning Guide for the MAZDASPEED3/6 will be available for download, at no additional charge, on April 20th.

With the release of AccessTUNER Race, COBB Tuning considers development of the AccessPORT suite of ECU tuning products for the MAZDASPEED3/6 to be complete. AccessTUNER Race and AccessPORT bugs/issues will be addressed in subsequent software and firmware releases, however, no new features are planned to be implemented for this platform.

AccessPORT customers that do not wish to attempt self-tuning will still have the options of procuring e-tuning or dyno-tuning services from a Pro Tuner using AccessTUNER Pro software (including COBB tuning facilities in Salt Lake City UT, Plano TX and Portland OR). Consult with your favorite tuner regarding your interest in having a custom tune performed for your AccessPORT equipped MAZDASPEED3 or MAZDASPEED6.

MAZDASPEED enthusiasts have clearly communicated that the knowledge, experience and expertise to tune the MAZDASPEED3/6 platform resides within the community. On April 20th, 2009, the final tools will be made available and thus empower community members to attain their tuning goals.

Thank you, good luck and happy tuning!

WTF is it not free? I have stuck by Cobb but this is not cool at all. Not to mention they will not add any features? What about the no lift shift and such?

They are releasing it early for us.. isn't that what we wanted?
Will you ever be happy?

I personally didn't mind waiting till Sep so no, I'm not happy. Specially if that means we pay for it AND lose all support, no future modifications/improvements.

One of the reasons I purchased the AP was the No Lift Shift, WOT Launch, CEL Fix for Warm Cat etc. I had the patience for them to do it right. Not piss them off and for them to say Fine, **** You, here it is at $195 to shut you up and on top of that we're done, don't call us.

I hope this was an APR1st joke, specially as it is due to be released on 4/20. Seems like a joke to me. Lets hope so.

wow glad i have no tuning ability myself. so now i need to pay 200 for the tuning software and someone to do it for me. sweet.

its legit. we don't know what they mean by no more features etc.... they will continue to update and support the AP I assume. It's not clear if it means no more features for ATR or our platform as a whole?

Where'd you find that? I can't find it on there forum

Edit: found it on the .org

Thats the truth. In the Subby market COBB is king and everyone believes in COBB. Come here and the Mazda guys are demanding and seem to be know it alls. Maybe ths is why Mazda has such a small aftermarket compared to others.

You saying the subaru guys know who to bend over and take it?

No i'm kidding, I just want confirmation from Cobb that everything is as it was stated. 4/1 and 4/20 are just bad days to pick thats all.

No, we subby guys know that waiting for a quality product is always worth waiting for from a grade A company like Cobb.
Cobb has a great reputation and only time will show if those dates are solid or liquid.
