....

funny thing is, is the manufacturer of the manual is owned by jiffy lube.. so either way its coming out of their pockets.. lol

they are paying for the bill

Awesome but still sucks... hopefully you actually gain something out of this misshap...^^^^

So what was it, did it not have any oil? I bet the Jiffy lube manager filled that filter all the way to the rim as he put it on your car. Maybe even had it filled with smoke be gone.

Even the dealer will get it wrong from time to time but I've seen it to many times from Jiffy Lube customers. Well former customers...

THis is why I dont' take my car to minit lube, jiffy whatevers, etc etc. there are threads in this forum about the quality of workmanship etc with these places.

well.. in all honesty it wasnt jiffy lubes fault...

theyre reference book was wrong. it told them to use the filter they used... now, why they didnt us the computer reference which had the correct filter in it who knows...

and yes. they did show me the huge book written last year that showed the fram filter to be used.

so0o0o0 jiffy will get reimbursed by the company that wrote the book (who happens to own jiffy lube anyways)

Just an update. Got the Brand new motor + turbo ordered. Will be installed Friday or Monday by Mazda... Wahooo no used motors

Congrats bro :D
wish sumthin like that happened to me, id get a new pro5 motor, then id go boost right away.

not forged. unfortunately.. the only way i can keep my warranty (i purchased 3 yr 36k miles) is by having a mazda replacement... this means more to me right now then going forged. after the warranty is up, i should have about 30k miles on the motor. which then ill go forged

LOL I thought you were talking about a forged motor and I was sad because I haven't been able to get my other block into the machine shop to be rebuilt yet. But if it's a stock motor I don't feel as bad since my stock engine is still running even through VICS damage.

Even though I don't have my car serviced at Jiffy Lube, I send relatives and coworkers there (who aren't car-savy) who would otherwise keep putting an oil change off for longer than 3-5k miles. The one near me doesn't mess up as much as others in the area.

ok. apparently people dont read the posts where i said IT WASNT JIFFIES FAULT.. lol... any shop could have this manual, and could put the wrong filter in...
