I tied replacing my plugs with 1-step colder plugs and i started getting bad backfire at WOT. I put the stock plugs back and the problem is gone. Whats the deal????

are they gapped properly?
the gap you want is between .028-.032
i'm not sure if that would cause your problem, but that would where i'd start.
backfiring is due to running rich, can anyone else chime in that plugs might be the cause of running rich?

If the spark plug is not "warm" enough it can lead to the fuel in the combustion chamber to not fully burn therefore leading to a rich condition and then exploding when it hits your hot exhaust.

ive heard that the step colders come gapped far to big, i would check that out. on the upside, running rich is better than lean! hah.

Denzo plugs come pre-gapped at 30 I believe. The Iridium Plugs do not and are gapped at like 40+.

Shy of that, if you run VTA you will get backfiring between shifts. I also get random backfires myself running Recirc with Denzo's. However, they are small and very random.

your getting backfire at WOT ??? Like randomely when your foot is down or when you let off ? This happens all the time ?

My car backfires when its not warmed up yet but thats normal with how rich our cars run. Wouldn't hurt to peek at your A/F ratio to make sure thats ok.

denso itv-22 come "pre-gapped" at around .030, but you're still supposed to double check them. denso itv-22 are iridium.
ngk plugs (6510) come gapped at .040, so you have to tighten that s*** up. ngk are also iridium.
op needs to answer that question...which plugs, and did he gap them.
also, which valve does op have. is it a hybrid?
is it running recirc?
where the **** is op?

ROFL - Sry meant to type NGK Iridium plugs. The NGK's are closer to 40gap and gaping Iridium plugs is a royal PITA as the tips are so fragile. Denso FTW.
