What have you done to your MSP today?

neither was I, I'm still payin off the credit card half of it went on! lol

Atleast u can drive around knowing ur lsd will not cause u any problems. I feel like im standing on a thin branch with no welded lsd. I also cant afford it at the moment. Im really hoping it can last till after college.

just be nice to it, and pray a lot. lol

Edit: and make sure you don't wheel hop.

i dont drive hard nor fast 95% of the time. but i didnt own the car for the past 60k. hmmm.

See... this is what concerns me...

my MSP is up to 110K. I didn't buy it until it was at roughly 72K. So, I am hoping that the previous owner either was a softee on the car, or drove it rough as hell and had the LSD already replaced. Either way, I am still scurred that it might pop one day.

Can't wait to refi the house. We're gonna refi for like 30K and that means some replacement upgrades for the BOSS (Big Orange Squeaky Siren as I call her).

Same here. Im no speed racer. I have a few occasional spirited drives. If it can last till after college ill be happy. Than i can make all the needed mods to keep her running like a beast.

They are probably welding them themselves.

Let's see, I snapped my diff autoxing. It was the 20th run of the day in my car and I went over a incline and on the way down once the car loaded again there was no going anywhere. I got a revised diff and had it welded for $80 from a local welder. Right before Xmas I lost 3rd gear, took it apart and had all teh gears cryoed, replaced syncros and bearings. So I literally have rebuilt my tranny twice. You save on money when you do it yourself. Less than $700 and I have a trans with cryoed gears and a welded diff. Should hopefully be solid for my goals of daily driving the car.

or have your current one welded while getting a new clutch installed or something lol

You still are going to need to replace the shaft locking nuts when you tear down the trans to remove the diff. Also it would be best to replace the diff bearings when re-assembling.

more proof that the msp is unreliable lol

yea, it's has nothing to do with modifying and racing a car that was never meant for such conditions. It's totally the msp's fault.

I do know they break not modified but how many you think break from defects? If the truth was always told I bet it would be a very low number.

I feel bad when they break but you have to accept responibility

I'd say the MSP has definitely proven the diff to be underengineered, regardless of how its been driven by a given owner. That said, every time you beat on your car... you're asking to break something...

Ok, I need you guys take on gears. I want/need to replace my 3rd and 4th and don't want to spend a hell of a lot of money. So far I already know about two different sets, however, the PAR ones I hear are noisy and I should stay with helical - not straight.

Any suggestions?

Agreed however there are solutions if you know your going to beat on it. It's just expensive and most don't want to do it. There are lots of us With the original diff too .

SU is 596 shipped after u add the 2 axle seals and 2 main shaft bearings

PG is 619 shipped and includes all bearings and locking nuts

they're about the same price. so with SU i'd need locking nuts and with PG i'd need axle seals? lol

now how reliable would it be to get my current one welded vs just getting a new one that comes welded? obviously theres a big price difference but i'd rather just do it right the first time so i dont have to end up doing it again
