I know ppl have done this... can i see some pics but more impotantly i wanna know what tire sizes are available

Rim: 2004 Mazda3 5-door
Tire: 205/50/17

What im interested in is a lower profile tire... and i know they make 205/40/17 and this will probably fit but will 215/35/17 fit? or if you have done this conversion on your pro5 what tire size did you go with... lol yea i tried searching but got lazy

From what I've found on : Rims n' Tires 205/45R17 or 215/40R17 would work. I'd guess that 215/35 would fit easy as they're smaller. Not sure what rims you're talking about (snowflake or 5 fat spokes) but I also found a pic. (I love those rims so I've been searching a lot myself)

^thanks for the post
yup those are the ones i got... i guess i got a good deal on them...
picked umm up last night for $300 with bald tires but the rims are in 95% perfect condition

Does seem like a good deal to me. I'm not decided yet on which rims I want... I'm not dropped so I'm not sure I want to slam 17" right now. Still debating, but I want to see them when they're installed and please post your tire specs!

Glad I could help

Here's my question- is there any way to squeeze 225s on those things and not rub? Since I have 215s on the stockers from my P5, if I upgraded rims at some point (I would love to get these) I would want all the contact patch I could get! Any thoughts?

Can't help there, but I think Slideshow240 would get you 275 on there lol. That guy seems like the offset master around here, might want to PM him!

That's Rob's (Liquid_ag) car and he is running 215/45/17's with no rubbing issues. I am pretty sure he has rolled his fenders and he is now riding on JIC coilovers.

I am going to say NO as they are 17x6.5. Rob has said that he hasn't had any problems with the 215's but IMO the 225's would be pushing it.

anything wider than 215 wouldnt look all that good, IMO. it would look like an XL shirt on a small child. id say go with 205/40, and thats prob what slideshow would say if he doesnt say 195. thats what i ordered for my 17x7s. slideshow is running 195s on his, but im not sure the width of the wheel. i know its no less than 7" though.

Yeah, I don't care so much about how the tire looks...my stockers are made for 195s, but my 215s give me so much more grip, I couldn't care less how they look. They're a tight fit, but worth it IMHO.

mazda3 5-spoke rims are 17s? i thought they were 16s hrmm. cool any more pix??

The 3i came with the 16x6.5 (pic1) while the 3s came with 17x6.5 (pic2)

are there any tire rubbing issues? i'm getting the same rims w/ 205 40 17 tires but i don't know if they'll clear my fenders

my front and rear tires are almost tucking w/ 205 50 16 tires on stock 02 p5 rims. my fenders are already rolled but there's still very limited clearance before tires rub.

anyone know if the mazda 3 rims will clear my fenders? i believe the 17" GT rims are 53.2mm offset while stock P5 wheels are 50mm offset? putting the 17" GT wheels on a P5 would make the tires stick out another 4mm?

i looked up specs for 205 40 17" tires. tire manufacturers claim that size requires a minimum of 7" wide rim. mazda3 gt rims are only 6.5" wide. will 205 40 17" still work?
