XelderX's BG FSP Build

Here she is in the pain booth after the final coat. I'm not an expert on color, but natural sunlight will hopefully darken the shade a little and make the metallic jump a whole lot more than the booth lights. It's pretty much what I was hoping for, but it will still be a few days before we can get it home and see exactly what it looks like.

A hint of the metal flake.

The color pretty much rocks. Can't wait to see it at Dixie!

I wish I could lay down paint that smoothly.

The camera hides a lot. There is a lot of trash in the paint, but we might be able to smooth it out with some wet sanding. There was no filler laid or sanding on the car before it was painted so all the imperfections in the original surface are still visible. I was fine with that. It's meant to look good from a distance going fast. I'll be towing her home on Thursday and we'll see what she looks like with the bumpers back on and the race wheels.

The car came home today and it looks pretty good in sunlight. The paint shop still has the rear bumper and a few little trim pieces, but I got everything else put back together.

I also did a rough Photoshop of the required graphics.

And then I got really bored.

lol that's awesome. A buddy of mine did his STS CRX's valve cover in that scheme and it came out completely awesome:

Dude, that is hawt.

Skip the rising sun logo, though.

Yes...I know, but I really feel like there needs to be something going on in that area. All suggestions are welcome.

Do the "Mazda" in silver(?), large, on the angle on rear 1/4...right over the glass.

Something alomg the lines of this:

i might put the Flying "M" logo there tilted like that which would still leave room for the "mazda" logo on the quarter panel.

My local club had their first points event of the season today. If you've been keeping up with the weather on the East Coast you can imagine how miserable it was. It was hovering around freezing and pouring rain the whole time we were on site. I didn't even pack the Hoosiers. I borrowed my girlfriend's 195 Azenis from her Miata. It was good that I went. It looks like any rain setup on my car will involve disconnecting one or both of the front swaybars, although I'm sure the tires were partially to blame as well. The car was hopelessly pushy. I couldn't even put it in the top 10 PAX or RAW and there were only 40 drivers at the event...mostly novices. It was just too nasty to get under the car and make any changes. It's making me a little anxious, because I don't have access to any competitive rain tires right now.

I wouldn't think anything of that sort of event. Driving in the wet vs driving in the COLD and wet is very different. You need the right kind of tires to make it work and Azenis are not particularly that good in the cold or the wet. You probably would have been better off with some "all-season" tires.
