Hey guys today when I was pulling out of my driveway and noticed that something was not right with my shifter. It was really stiff and it was hard to get it in to reverese. When I finally got it in to reverse and pulled out of the driveway, I couldnt get it in to first. I had to pull up on the shifter to disinguage the reverse lock out to be able to put it in first. I think the reverse lock out might be messed up. Now I know.. just take it in to service and have them fix it. But when I talked to the service department to make an appointment they asked me if I had any mods, I said no. But I do, no mods that have anything to do with the shifter. All I have is a COBB sri, HKS SSQV, turbo timer, a boost guage, and corckcport catback and test pipe that will be installed this weekend. Should I take all these mods off before I take in?

don't have any mods when you go in if you told them that you dont. And is it cold in your area? or have you hit anything like a pot hole really hard, or run something over?

So, after this little "spell" did the car quit and start acting right; or is this thing a new permanent condition?

You may have to take your s*** off and go to the dealer.

I see you are in Houston..which dealer are you talking about?

It looks like it is permanent because when I went out for lunch it kept doing it. I made the appointment with Munday Mazda.
Will the dealer really give me s*** about my mods? They have nothing to do with the shifter.

They have to prove that your existing mods caused this problem. Be safe and revert back to stock.

They will probably give you s*** about it. Even though they don't have anything you do with the shifter they are still there. Save yourself the headache of having to deal with them saying your intake somehow made it happen and just take them off first.

Munday is where I bought my car. They are supposed to be a Gold Cup Service award winner or something to that effect.

My car has never been back so I have no idea if they are any good or not.

As far as sales go, Munday was a lot better than Joe Meyers - their sales dept sucks.

Let us know WTF goes on when you deal with this! It'd be interesting to know.
Cheers!

how cold is it by you? mine doesnt seem to like to engage at first when it's really cold. Once the car warms up a bit it's like butter.

It is not that cold at all. I live on Houston Texas we are in the 60's and 70's

Do you guys think I should just save myself all the time and trouble and just get a TWM or a COBB short shifter?

well then, sounds like you are just screwed then lol

j/k

bring it to your dealer and remove your mods.

Life is throwing warm s*** at you. Shower, remove mods, get the fix, and reattach. Sorry.

Getting a SS may not cure your problem and then you will have more mods to take off your car. I have never had the dealership ask me over the phone if I am modded, that is a tell tale sign that you need to be stock to go in!
