SU test pipe issues

mine went on using all the threads, but i have no leaks. I could have put in some new ones, but didnt bother. good luck

I took it to pepboys and they didn't have the gasket in the store but they had it in the shop . . . I had them lift my car and they wanted 75 bucks to stick the gasket in there. They wouldn't sell me the gasket. Glad I didn't take that offer.

$75 - outrageous. I had a performance exhaust shop install my complete catless DP/RP combo for $200. They do a lot of work for pure drag cars in this area. If you know what a b**** it is to remove and replace the DP, that's one hell of a bargain. It sometimes pays to seek out the guys who do the work on winning race cars. Almost every community is going to have an independent shop that does performance oriented exhaust work. They know how to do it right and do it quickly.

You have to keep in mind that certified shops won't work on catless exhausts. Its a federal fine. That rip off shop was refusing to look at my car until I convinced them that there was more than 1 cat on the car. Stupid chick who thought she knew it all kept telling me that i removed the only cat.

You can't really blame her for thinking you only had one cat, I myself thought the MS3 only had one cat.

I'm gonna purchase one next monday, hopefully I have no issues because it will be a pita to keep messin around with. Isn't there some kind of spray you can buy and spray where the pipes meet to prevent them from leaking?

i have had my test pipe for a little over a week now, and i can honestly say i feel NO power increase. any ideas why? besides that its all in my head. the tone is noticeably different, but i dont know what the deal is.

The power increase is minimal. Prob 6 or 7 horsies tops. This car runs so sporatically (great one day, terrible the next) its hard to notice.

Either way your butt dyno has to be tuned nicely to feel 6 whp.

Awesome, I'm gonna install my test pipe on saturday, can't wait. Hopefully all goes well. Really look forward to this mod, I've been waiting for a while. Alot of good info. I'm gonna go purchase the bolt size yall said. Did you get double threaded sides or just a regular bolt with thread on one side?

Awesome piece, installed mine this weekend. The only thing I didn't like was the chemical they put in the pipe, it smoked for awhile and stank. But the car runs alot better now since it seemed I was getting too much air and not getting rid of it quick enough. Thanks for all the advice. Easy install and fit perfect

Did anyone that has this part have any stink white fumes coming from the exhaust? I think its the chemical crap that they sprayed in the pipe. I've put 1k miles on the pipe already and it still does it. It's the same smell that it made after I put the pipe on. Anyone know how long this chemical crap takes to be gone?

That crap stinks, didn't think it would be that bad removing the second cat. Only actually does it once in awhile, When I start my car it doesn't do it while I warm it up for 10 min. but after I drive for about 15 and let it sit for a couple of min. it will start doing it

I didn't notice any stink. Then again I usually dont sniff my exhaust. I looked inside the pipe however and there was no chemicals in the pipe. Just bits of metal that I cleaned out due to the welding.

Are you sure your turbo isn't smoking??

It didn't do this smoking thing til right after I installed it. The reason that I think it was the chemicals/wetness in the pipe is because right after I installed it and started it, it had the white stinky smoke coming out of the exhaust. It isn't my turbo, it runs great

If you've driven 1000 miles and still smell it and it starts happening after the car is warmed up, driven, and then sitting idling for a couple minutes, it sounds exactly like your turbo seals. The stock cats mask this... you just removed one.

I don't think it smells too bad, of course I don't go around inhaling exhaust fumes regularly.
