Mazdaspeed 3 CAI ?

According to my MS Warranty Clarification thread?

People were concerned about warranty status on the car, and what that would do if the part wasn't installed by Mazda. I just simply clarified that the warranty they were talking about was a parts warranty and still wouldn't be affected.

yeah that thread. lol it was your quote in your first post. even if the dealer doesn't install the part it is still covered(the part) for 1 year or 12,000 miles from the date of purchase.

Right, the car's warranty is in place as it is. But the information in the green warranty is relating to the accessory's warranty in relation to the car's warranty.

Either way, Parkerfe needs to stop over-analyzing this s*** and order it.

exactly!! we are just trying to help, parker!!

Seriously, he's worse than I am, and I was pretty bad with analyzing everything on the intakes and different options. Either way, he's getting closer and closer to newb answers: "search"

So we got a chance to install everything today. It's sorta difficult but once you put everything together, you have to loosen the couplers and let it naturally fall into place so it'll fit comfortably. I had a problem with the splash shield pushing against the fender lining and the wheel was rubbin real bad on it.

The air straightener is good, but after moving everything around, I don't know if it's exactly where it's supposed to be. I get my dashhawk soon, so i'll see if that makes a tremendous difference enough.

Thank ya JESUS!

Let us know if you have any issues installing. We installed mine last night and it wasn't easy at first. Didn't fit properly until we loosened all the couplers and let it naturally bolt up.

I gotta agree, that Injen is a nice ass intake. But thankfully, you know how to make s*** work Bill! Otherwise that splash shield was gonna just rub against my wintersports lol.

Installed mine last night. I had to lube up the couplers a little to get them to move to the right position.

Definitly feel the difference and not as loud as expected under normal driving conditions. You definitly hear the WOOSH under full throttle. I need the ECU to reset to get the full effect.

Did anyone else notice that the breather hose seems a little stressed once connected on the CAI?

Other than that, great fit and finish. Wish it came in black to be less noticable under the hood.

Would you guys still go with a MSCAI if you lived in a very rainy climate like Central Florida? Lot's of rain puddles at times as well. I just fear that I would drive though one not knowing how deep it was and get hydrolock and be down about 10k for a new motor...I've seen this happen to ppl with CAI's so I know it can happen. So is this MSCAI designed in such a way that hydrolock is nearly impossible or a very uncommon proposition even if you live in a wet climate? Is it really worth the risk of hydro locking over getting a SRI and being relatively safe?

Between the CAI splash shield and the wheel well splash shield, it is well protected. I am not worried about it and I live in the Seattle area where it rains almost daily. :) You would have to drive through water that would be higher than the bumper lip to take in any water. To submerge it, the water would have to be 3/4 of the way up the drivers wheel.

Best of all, since the Mazdaspeed CAI is a 2 piece design, you can turn it into a SRI if you are really worried.

The strain on the piping can be lessened by realigning the piping. The mount on the pipe should also fit on the mounting bracket easy as pie. Before I re-aligned it, it was pulling hard core..

i am not too sure how much flooding you tend to get in central fla but i really think that just some good old common sense will all but eliminate the risk of hydrolock. You would seriously have to driving through 7" of water to get hydrolocked. if you see a deep puddle and are not sure, then drive around it or take a different route. thats what i do here in chicago. as for the cai vs sri debate goes, i am still sticking with my logic. i like my warranty. i don't want any hassle if i have a problem. to me the little bit extra $$ that i spent was well worth it. if i didnt get the mscai then i would have left the stock airbox on

You can't always tell how deep a puddle is (Not crystal clear) and 7inches isn't all that deep so I don't understand what this "good old common sense" logic is about during a scenario such as this one. So according to what you said I would just have to find a way not to drive through any rain puddles... This isn't always as easy as it might seem and quite frankly would be a pain in the ass not to mention stressful. Thanks for you imput but looks like I'll be getting an SRI and taking it off for warranty issues, etc.
